It is a race for efficiency, where a millisecond can determine whether a miner wins a block or loses to a competitor,\u201d the statement reads.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Joining the project, founded in 2022 by Braiins and Spiral, are AntPool, F2Pool, Foundry USA, SpiderPool, MARA Foundation, DMND, and Block. Collectively, the new group members control at least 75% of the first cryptocurrency network&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/what-are-hashrate-and-mining-difficulty-in-cryptocurrencies\">hashrate<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/img-5adc9ccfe0befc1f-4010164888376079.webp\" alt=\"image\" class=\"wp-image-279800\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/hashrateindex.com\/hashrate\/pools\">Hashrate Index<\/a>.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What is Stratum V2?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Stratum V2 is an updated <a href=\"https:\/\/stratumprotocol.org\/\">communication protocol<\/a> between pools and individual miners, set to replace the outdated Stratum V1, in use since 2012.<\/p>\n<p>The new protocol offers:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>end-to-end encryption;<\/li>\n<li>more efficient farm management;<\/li>\n<li>reduced latency;<\/li>\n<li>the ability for miners to independently create block templates.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The last point is considered particularly important for network decentralization, as currently, pools mainly control the selection of transactions for a block.<\/p>\n<p>Developers also claim that transitioning to Stratum V2 could enhance mining profitability by reducing latency and data transmission costs. The project estimates efficiency gains could reach 7.4%.<\/p>\n<p>In March, CoinShares analysts concluded that at least 15-20% of Bitcoin mining capacity <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/coinshares-analysts-report-20-of-bitcoin-miners-capitulate\">operates at a loss<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Seven major mining entities, including AntPool, Foundry, and F2Pool, have joined the Stratum V2 working group.
