{"id":96509,"date":"2026-04-26T10:06:43","date_gmt":"2026-04-26T07:06:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/?p=96509"},"modified":"2026-04-26T10:10:11","modified_gmt":"2026-04-26T07:10:11","slug":"litecoin-undergoes-block-reorganization-due-to-zero-day-vulnerability","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/litecoin-undergoes-block-reorganization-due-to-zero-day-vulnerability\/","title":{"rendered":"Litecoin Undergoes Block Reorganization Due to Zero-Day Vulnerability"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On April 25, the <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/what-is-litecoin-ltc\">Litecoin<\/a> network experienced a significant block reorganization after attackers exploited a zero-day vulnerability.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Litecoin update:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 A zero-day bug caused a DoS attack that disrupted major mining pools.<br \/>\u2022 Non-updated mining nodes allowed an invalid MWEB transaction allowing them to peg out coins to third party DEX\u2019s<br \/>\u2022 A 13-block reorg reversed those invalid transactions \u2014 they will not\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Litecoin (@litecoin) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/litecoin\/status\/2048135554445832542?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 25, 2026<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>According to the incident report, the bug enabled unknown parties to conduct a <span data-descr=\"denial of service\" class=\"old_tooltip\">DoS<\/span> attack, disrupting major mining pools.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This allowed nodes running outdated software to validate invalid transactions within the MimbleWimble Extension Block privacy layer.<\/p>\n<p>Through these manipulations, the perpetrator could interact with invalid coins and send them to third-party <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/what-is-a-decentralised-exchange-dex\">DEX<\/a> platforms.<\/p>\n<p>In response to the attack, developers carried out a 13-block reorganization, reversing the false transactions and excluding them from the new chain.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cAll valid operations during this period remain unchanged. The bug has been fully fixed, and the network continues to operate normally,\u201d stated Litecoin representatives.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Alex Shevchenko, CEO of Aurora Labs, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/AlexAuroraDev\/status\/2048087271262318795\" title=\"\">described<\/a> the incident as a \u201ccoordinated attack.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to his observations, the reorganization affected blocks from #3,095,930 to #3,095,943 and took over three hours, during which attackers executed double-spending attacks against several cross-chain protocols.<\/p>\n<p>The incident had little impact on the LTC price.
