{"id":86737,"date":"2023-11-08T10:15:25","date_gmt":"2023-11-08T08:15:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=86737"},"modified":"2025-09-13T07:25:47","modified_gmt":"2025-09-13T04:25:47","slug":"usdc-issuer-circle-eyes-ipo-in-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/usdc-issuer-circle-eyes-ipo-in-2024\/","title":{"rendered":"USDC issuer Circle eyes IPO in 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Circle Internet Financial \u2014 the issuer of the stablecoin <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/what-is-the-usdc-stablecoin\">USDC<\/a> \u2014 is weighing an initial public offering early in 2024, according to people familiar with the matter cited by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2023-11-07\/stablecoin-issuer-circle-internet-said-to-consider-2024-ipo\">Bloomberg<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>According to sources familiar with the matter, the firm has begun talks with advisers. Goldman Sachs, General Catalyst and BlackRock could organise the equity offering.<\/p>\n<p>Discussions are ongoing, and there is no certainty that Circle will ultimately become a publicly traded company in the United States.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>\u201cGoing to the stock market has long been among the company\u2019s strategic objectives. We do not comment on rumors,\u201d<\/em> \u2014 the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In July 2021 <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/circle-to-go-public-via-spac-merger-valued-at-4-5-billion\">the firm<\/a> announced that it would become a public company via a reverse merger with Concord Acquisition Corp. It was reported that its shares would be listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker CRCL.<\/p>\n<p>In late 2022 Circle <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/circle-abandons-spac-plan-to-go-public\">abandoned the deal<\/a> with a <span data-descr=\"special purpose acquisition company (SPAC)\" class=\"old_tooltip\">SPAC<\/span>. This was preceded by the collapse of FTX<a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/ftx-group-files-for-bankruptcy-sam-bankman-fried-resigns-as-ceo\"><\/a>, which worsened market conditions in the digital-asset space and cooled Wall Street&#8217;s interest in crypto firms.<\/p>\n<p>The valuation prior to the merger was $4.5 billion, but in February 2022 the amount <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/circle-valued-at-9bn-in-updated-spac-merger-agreement\">rose to $9 billion<\/a>. The boards of the two companies also approved a new agreement. The deal was planned to close by December 8, with the possibility of extending the timetable to January 31, 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in February 2023, CFO Jeremy Fox-Jean <em> <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/wsj-usdc-stablecoin-operator-to-raise-headcount-by-25\">emphasized<\/a> that the firm has not abandoned plans to go public, awaiting improved market conditions.<\/p>\n<p>In August Coinbase <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/coinbase-buys-stake-in-circle-internet-financial\">bought<\/a> a minority stake in Circle Internet Financial.<\/p>\n<p>Under the agreement, the Center consortium, which was run by both companies, will be dissolved.
