All you hear are piercing fans. This isn&#8217;t just annoying; we fear that as a result property values will fall,\\&#8221; commented Gary Maston, whose home sits across the road from the facility.<\/p>\n<p>\\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>Some members of the community claim the entity owning the facility, GMI Computing, misled the town. The company allegedly described the facility as a data centre and hid that it was a mining operation.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>According to them, the firm promised to contribute to the local economy and create jobs, but only one of the five workers at the Bitcoin farm is local.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>However, some long-time residents disagree with the centre&#8217;s claims about acoustic pollution.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\\\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\\\"><p>\\n<\/p>\n<p>\\&#8221;This is nothing compared with what the sawmill produced. It&#8217;s really not a problem for people who lived through it,\\&#8221; said Bill Brown, who has lived in Mountain Pine since the 1980s.<\/p>\n<p>\\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>But the mayor\u2019s office, in response to a rising wave of complaints, only required GMI Computing to erect a noise barrier around the facility by the end of the year.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>From the video, the company appears to be operating several container-type AntBox units from Bitmain. The manufacturer introduced this equipment type in 2019.
