Operational challenges and overcoming resistance to collecting biometric data remain difficult tasks. This was stated by Worldcoin co-founder Sam Altman, The Block<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n

“The production challenges are enormous when you think about what it takes to create these spheres [Orbs]. Another task is overcoming biometric resistance that arises when some people first hear about the product,” Altman noted.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Project co-founder Alex Blania noted that the main part of his work after launch has been engaging with policymakers and regulators. He added that the team is “gaining momentum”, engaging with a large number of officials.<\/p>\n

Blania also touched on Worldcoin’s privacy.<\/p>\n

“Your data is deleted. You remain completely anonymous. \u2026 We must address this globally \u2014 some mechanism for verification on the Internet. World ID is a real chance to do this while preserving privacy,”<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Worldcoin launched<\/a> on 24 July. The project’s main product \u2014 the World ID protocol \u2014 is based on zero-knowledge proofs<\/a>. It is a mobile identification tool that uses iris scanning or a phone number.<\/p>\n

Regulators in the United Kingdom<\/a>, France<\/a>, Germany<\/a> and Argentina<\/a> have shown interest in Worldcoin. In Kenya, the project’s work has been suspended<\/a>, and at the company’s warehouses searches have taken place<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
