He was temporarily replaced by Norman Reid, head of the legal affairs department, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bnnbloomberg.ca\/binance-us-ceo-departs-as-crypto-platform-cuts-third-of-staff-1.1970552\">Bloomberg<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The CEO&#8217;s resignation occurred alongside mass layoffs. The American exchange laid off about a third of staff, or around 100 people.<\/p>\n<p>Brian Shroder <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/former-ant-group-and-uber-executive-named-president-of-binance-us\">joined<\/a> the company in 2021. Previously he was head of business development at Ant Group and head of strategy and business development for the Asia-Pacific region at Uber.<\/p>\n<p>According to the publication, this is already the second round of layoffs at Binance.US in 2023.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThe aggressive attempts by the <span data-descr=\"U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission\" class=\"old_tooltip\">SEC<\/span> to harm our industry and the resulting consequences for our business are having a strong impact on jobs in America and the development of innovation,\u201d said a company spokesperson.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>On June 5, the SEC <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/sec-files-suit-against-binance-and-changpeng-zhao\">filed a lawsuit<\/a> against Binance and its CEO Changpeng Zhao. The commission leveled 13 charges, including the sale of unregistered securities. On June 6, the regulator <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/sec-seeks-to-freeze-assets-held-by-binance-us\">filed a motion<\/a> to freeze the digital assets of the exchange&#8217;s U.S. unit.<\/p>\n<p>On June 9, users of the platform <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/binance-us-to-suspend-usd-deposits\">lost the ability to deposit<\/a> dollars, prompting selling by those seeking to withdraw funds in fiat. In this context, on the platform <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/bitcoin-trades-at-a-discount-on-binance-us\">a discount formed<\/a> in the Bitcoin quotes against the USD \u2014 the indicator reached about $2,200 (7.3%).<\/p>\n<p>On June 17, the SEC and Binance <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/sec-and-binance-strike-deal-over-customer-assets-in-the-united-states\">reached an agreement<\/a> on customer funds in the United States. The exchange <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/binance-us-unfreezes-withdrawals-for-the-near-future\">resumed<\/a> withdrawals of assets, though the company warned that the situation could change.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in September, Binance <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/binance-parts-ways-with-top-managers-overseeing-russia\">announced<\/a> the departure of Gleb Kostarev, head of Eastern Europe, and Vladimir Smerkis, head of the CIS.
