Ethereum and Buterin<\/h2>\n

On September 4, co-founder Vitalik Buterin sold<\/a> 500 tokens MakerDAO<\/a> (~$579 000) after the head of the project Rune Christensen proposed launching the protocol on Solana<\/a>. Later in a discussion with the community of the competing platform for issuing stablecoins<\/a> Reflexer, Buterin said that MakerDAO torpedoes itself in strange directions.<\/p>\n

Speaking at Korea Blockchain Week, Buterin spoke<\/a> about the centralization problem of Ethereum<\/a>: in his view, independence from large providers of computing power can be achieved in 10\u201320 years.<\/p>\n

Also the Ethereum co-founder spoke<\/a> as co-author of a study on Privacy Pools \u2014 a protocol that could become an alternative to cryptocurrency mixers like Tornado Cash<\/a>. The work aims to address two issues: preserving transaction privacy while tracking and filtering funds linked to illicit activity.<\/p>\n

Another idea for ecosystem development was proposed<\/a> by Matter Labs head Alex Glukhovsky. He proposed creating a \u201cEthereum Supreme Court,\u201d which would serve as the final arbiter in disputes involving smart contracts.<\/p>\n

New twist in the WEX case<\/h2>\n

Dmitry \u201cMoryachok\u201d Havchenko was excluded<\/a> from the list of victims in the WEX exchange embezzlement case. Before the trial began Havchenko learned that instead of him this status had been given to a certain straw man with an Armenian passport, who had not previously participated in the proceedings. The new \u201cvictim\u201d is linked to Russian oligarch Konstantin Malofeyev.<\/p>\n

Binance and the CIS<\/h2>\n

On September 6, top executives Gleb Kostarev and Vladimir Smerikis announced that they were leaving their posts at Binance. Both were among those responsible for the company\u2019s operations in Russia.<\/p>\n

CEO Changpeng Zhao wrote on X that some managers are moving to higher roles, and some to new projects, and advised not to pay attention to FUD<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Earlier in August, Binance removed from its P2P platforms banks under U.S. sanctions \u2014 Sberbank, Tinkoff and Alfa-Bank.<\/p>\n
