{"id":83830,"date":"2023-08-31T14:57:24","date_gmt":"2023-08-31T11:57:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=83830"},"modified":"2025-09-12T13:33:58","modified_gmt":"2025-09-12T10:33:58","slug":"four-chinese-firms-launch-chatgpt-like-ai-chatbots","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/four-chinese-firms-launch-chatgpt-like-ai-chatbots\/","title":{"rendered":"Four Chinese Firms Launch ChatGPT-like AI Chatbots"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On 30 August, Chinese companies \u2014 Baidu, Baichuan Intelligent Technology, SenseTime and Zhipu AI \u2014 launched their own AI-powered chatbots after government approval. <a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/chinese-tech-companies-release-ai-chatbots\">Cointelegraph<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n<p>On the same day, another 11 firms were cleared to release AI products, including ByteDance, which owns TikTok, and <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/tencent-unveils-platform-for-creating-digital-humans\">Tencent Holdings<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Ernie Bot, Baidu&#8217;s neural network, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Baidu_Inc\/status\/1697123691723977208\">took first place<\/a> in the local ranking of free apps in the App Store twelve hours after its official release.<\/p>\n<p>The Chinese have long awaited a ChatGPT analogue, as authorities banned the use of neural networks. Reports say that government agencies also ordered local social networks WeChat and Weibo to limit access to OpenAI&#8217;s technology.<\/p>\n<p>On 15 August, the country began to enforce the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cac.gov.cn\/2023-07\/13\/c_1690898327029107.htm\">Artificial Intelligence Law<\/a>, which requires prior approval from the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) before launching relevant products.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, companies could conduct public trials of their AI developments only in a restricted regime. Now firms have expanded testing scopes and new regulatory requirements have been introduced.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, the CAC <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/china-launches-campaign-to-combat-ai-generated-fake-news\">launched a campaign<\/a> to combat fake AI news.
