They face charges including conspiracy to launder money, violations of restrictions and running an unlicensed business.<\/p>\n<p>In August 2022, <span data-descr=\"Office of Foreign Assets Control of the U.S. Department of the Treasury\" class=\"old_tooltip\">OFAC<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/us-sanctions-tornado-cash-the-ethereum-mixer\">added the Tornado Cash site to the sanctions list<\/a>, according to the agency, criminals laundered cryptocurrency totaling more than $7 billion. Of that amount, more than $455 million is linked to the North Korean Lazarus Group.<\/p>\n<p>On 12 August, Dutch authorities <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/in-amsterdam-authorities-arrest-alleged-tornado-cash-developer\">arrested<\/a> developer Alexey Pertsev on suspicion of involvement in money laundering and concealing illicit financial flows.
