{"id":83488,"date":"2023-08-23T17:51:56","date_gmt":"2023-08-23T14:51:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=83488"},"modified":"2025-09-12T11:24:29","modified_gmt":"2025-09-12T08:24:29","slug":"marathon-chief-sees-bitcoin-etf-approval-as-highly-likely","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/marathon-chief-sees-bitcoin-etf-approval-as-highly-likely\/","title":{"rendered":"Marathon chief sees Bitcoin ETF approval as highly likely"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is expected to approve a spot <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/what-is-a-cryptocurrency-etf\">exchange-traded fund<\/a> (ETF) based on Bitcoin, with a probability of more than 50%, Marathon Digital CEO Fred Till said in an interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/decrypt.co\/153450\/odds-sec-approves-spot-bitcoin-etf-are-better-than-50-50-says-marathon-digital-ceo\">Decrypt<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;I don&#8217;t know whether it&#8217;s worth making predictions about something like this, since even Larry Fink and BlackRock are trying to obtain approval for a Bitcoin ETF. This suggests that they have quite a high degree of confidence in success,&#8221; Till said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>On June 15 BlackRock <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/blackrock-files-for-bitcoin-etf-launch\">filed with the SEC an application for a digital-gold-based investment product<\/a>. Following the financial giant, similar filings came from <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/valkyrie-seeks-to-register-a-spot-bitcoin-etf\">Valkyrie<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/fidelity-investments-files-for-spot-bitcoin-etf\">Fidelity Investments<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/wisdomtree-and-invesco-file-applications-to-launch-bitcoin-etfs\">WisdomTree and Invesco<\/a>. However the regulator <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/wsj-reports-sec-reaction-to-blackrock-and-fidelity-spot-bitcoin-etf-filings\">rejected<\/a> all filings.<\/p>\n<p>Subsequently, the companies promptly submitted to the agency <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/fidelity-and-others-amend-filings-for-bitcoin-etf-after-sec-reaction\">updated proposals<\/a>. On July 14 the Commission <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/sec-takes-up-review-of-spot-bitcoin-etf-applications\">accepted for consideration the applications<\/a> from BlackRock, VanEck, Invesco, Fidelity Investments and WisdomTree.<\/p>\n<p>The Marathon chief stressed that approval of a Bitcoin ETF for one organisation is likely to give a green light to the rest.<\/p>\n<p>He also drew attention to <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/valkyrie-files-to-launch-ethereum-strategy-etf\">the Ethereum futures ETF<\/a> from Valkyrie.
