{"id":83177,"date":"2023-08-17T10:01:59","date_gmt":"2023-08-17T07:01:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=83177"},"modified":"2025-09-12T09:36:00","modified_gmt":"2025-09-12T06:36:00","slug":"valkyrie-files-to-launch-ethereum-strategy-etf","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/valkyrie-files-to-launch-ethereum-strategy-etf\/","title":{"rendered":"Valkyrie files to launch Ethereum Strategy ETF"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Valkyrie Funds<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/Archives\/edgar\/data\/1877493\/000138713123009893\/valkyrie-485apos_081523.htm\">filed<\/a> with the <span data-descr=\"Securities and Exchange Commission\" class=\"old_tooltip\">SEC<\/span> to launch Valkyrie Ethereum Strategy <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/what-is-a-cryptocurrency-etf\">ETF<\/a>, which will invest in Ethereum futures on <span data-descr=\"Chicago Mercantile Exchange\" class=\"old_tooltip\">CME<\/span> and high-quality instruments such as U.S. Treasuries and commercial paper.<\/p>\n<p>The instrument does not entail direct exposure to the second-largest cryptocurrency.<\/p>\n<p>In early August 2023, the SEC received<a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/six-firms-file-applications-to-launch-an-ethereum-etf\"> six applications<\/a> to launch Ethereum futures ETFs.<\/p>\n<p>Separately, asset manager Direxion sent to the regulator <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/Archives\/edgar\/data\/1424958\/000119312523201742\/d268575d485apos.htm\">proposal<\/a> for the approval of an ETF based on a basket of CME-traded futures on the first and second-largest cryptocurrencies.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in the US, filings to launch Ethereum-based ETFs were filed by<a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/kelly-strategic-management-files-to-launch-ethereum-futures-etf\"> Kelly Strategic Management<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/wisdomtree-files-with-sec-to-launch-ethereum-etf\">WisdomTree<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/kryptoin-files-to-register-ethereum-etf-in-the-united-states\">Kryptoin<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In July 2023 Nasdaq sent to the SEC<a href=\"https:\/\/listingcenter.nasdaq.com\/assets\/rulebook\/NASDAQ\/filings\/SR-NASDAQ-2023-019.pdf\"> updated filing<\/a> for launching a spot Bitcoin ETF on behalf of Valkyrie Funds. The document added mention of Coinbase as a partner in the so-called<a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/cboe-mirrors-blackrock-elements-in-ark-invest-bitcoin-etf-filing\"> joint surveillance agreement<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This mechanism became a key addition to <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/blackrock-files-for-bitcoin-etf-launch\">BlackRock&#8217;s proposal<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Following the Commission&#8217;s critique of its details, Nasdaq, on behalf of the management company <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/nasdaq-updates-its-filing-for-blackrocks-bitcoin-etf-listing\">filed a revised application<\/a> in light of the recommendations. Similarly, <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/fidelity-and-others-amend-filings-for-bitcoin-etf-after-sec-reaction\">Invesco, VanEck, 21Shares, WisdomTree and Fidelity<\/a> did likewise, with documents that also did not account for this specificity.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, Valkyrie, which initially<a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/valkyrie-seeks-to-register-a-spot-bitcoin-etf\"> filed the proposal<\/a> after rivals, reacted later than others.
