The number of hacks, cyber-attacks and fraudulent incidents aimed at the crypto industry in the second quarter of 2023 stood at 81. The figure rose by 63% compared with the same period last year, according to a report by Immunefi<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Over the preceding three months, about $265 million was lost: $220 million from hacks, $45 million from other incidents. This shows a 60.4% decrease in losses compared with Q2 2022, the authors noted. <\/p>\n

The Atomic Wallet was the most affected<\/a>; as a result, $100 million was stolen. Analysts separately noted<\/a> the exit scam of the Fintoch project for $31.6 million.<\/p>\n

BNB Chain and Ethereum accounted for 44.4% and 32.1% of the total incidents, respectively.<\/p>\n

DeFi-project losses totaled $228.5 million; centralized platforms lost far less\u2014$37 million.<\/p>\n

Of the $265 million stolen, only $10 million was recovered.<\/p>\n
