This followed <a href=\\\"https:\/\/www.nta.go.jp\/law\/tsutatsu\/kihon\/hojin\/kaisei\/2306xx\/index.htm\\\">\u0443\u0442\u043e\u0447\u043d\u0435\u043d\u0438\u044f<\/a> to the relevant law by the National Tax Agency.<\/p>\n<p>A proposal<a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/japan-to-consider-tax-relief-for-crypto-startups\"> was submitted<\/a> in August last year. Four months later, the standing committee of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party<a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/japan-to-cut-tax-on-unrealised-profits-for-token-issuers\"> approved<\/a> a relaxation of the tax burden for token issuers. The parliament subsequently adopted a similar measure.<\/p>\n<p>The initiative aims to spur growth in the financial and technology sectors. The current rules have forced entrepreneurs to establish startups in other jurisdictions.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in 2023, media reported that authorities were prepared to ease regulation of stablecoins<a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/japan-outlines-timelines-for-loosening-stablecoin-regulation\"> by the end of June<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It was reported recently that the Japan Virtual Currency Exchange Association intends to press the FSA<a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/japanese-regulator-to-consider-raising-leverage-in-cryptocurrency-trading\"> to secure an increase<\/a> in the maximum leverage from 1:2 to at least 1:10.<\/p>\n<p>From June 1 in the country the so-called Travel Rule (Travel Rule) from <span data-descr=\\\"Financial Action Task Force\\\" class=\\\"old_tooltip\\\">FATF<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/japans-parliament-approves-travel-rule-implementation-to-begin-on-june-1\"> has come into effect<\/a>, implying monitoring of crypto transactions for AML.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Token issuers in Japan are exempt from paying the 30% tax on unrealized gains from coins issued and held on balance.
