CoinDesk reports, citing sources.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-text-wrappers-update-2 article_update\"><time class=\"gtb_text-wrappers_update_time\">June 19, 2023 | 09:06<\/time><span class=\"gtb_text-wrappers_update_head\">Update: <\/span><\/p>\n<p>The company <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/Archives\/edgar\/data\/1980994\/000143774923017574\/bit20230608_s1.htm\" title=\"\">filed<\/a> with the SEC an S-1 registration for iShares.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>According to the report, the initiative uses Coinbase Custody as the custodian and spot-market data from a cryptocurrency exchange for pricing.<\/p>\n<p>BlackRock began <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/blackrock-to-offer-clients-access-to-cryptocurrencies-via-coinbase-prime\">to collaborate<\/a> with the platform as early as August 2022. At that time, the asset-management firm provided clients with access to trading digital assets via its portfolio-management system as part of the integration with the institutional service Coinbase Prime. <\/p>\n<p>To date, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has rejected nearly all applications to register cryptocurrency ETFs. <\/p>\n<p>In June 2022, the asset-management firm VanEck <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/vaneck-files-new-bid-for-spot-bitcoin-etf\">filed<\/a> documents to launch a spot Bitcoin ETF. The SEC <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/sec-rejects-vanecks-application-to-launch-a-spot-bitcoin-etf\">denied<\/a> the filing in November 2021.<\/p>\n<p>In October 2021, Grayscale Investments <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/dcg-chief-confirms-plans-to-convert-grayscales-bitcoin-trust-into-an-etf\">filed a petition<\/a> to convert a digital-gold-based trust into a spot Bitcoin ETF. On December 17, the SEC <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/sec-delays-decisions-on-bitwise-and-grayscale-bitcoin-etf-applications\">delayed<\/a> a decision on the application, and in February 2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/sec-delays-decisions-on-bitwise-and-grayscale-bitcoin-etf-applications\">again moved<\/a> the date on this matter.
