The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filed a motion<\/a> to freeze digital assets held by Binance.US.<\/p>\n

CEO Changpeng Zhao clarified<\/a> that asset freezes, if approved by the court, would affect only the U.S. arm, not the main Binance.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

According to The Block<\/a>, the Commission sought to freeze assets on accusations that executives and Zhao himself redirected client funds into his own investment funds.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe SEC respectfully states that this relief is necessary on an expedited basis to protect client assets. [\u2026] We take into account the defendants\u2019 long history of violations, disregard for U.S. laws, evasion of regulatory oversight and open questions about various transfers, storage and control of client assets,\u201d the regulator said in its statement.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The U.S. arm of the exchange posted a message on Twitter in which it called the regulator\u2019s actions \u201cunfounded.\u201d The platform\u2019s representatives assured that client funds are safe.<\/p>\n

This afternoon, the SEC filed a motion seeking a TRO and preliminary injunction against https:\/\/t.co\/AZwoBOgsqS<\/a> attempting to, amongst other things, freeze https:\/\/t.co\/AZwoBOgsqS<\/a> corporate assets. User assets remain safe and secure and the platform continues to be fully\u2026<\/p>\n
