This is according to a joint study <a href=\\\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/technology\/ai-threatens-humanitys-future-61-americans-say-reutersipsos-2023-05-17\/\\\" target=\\\"_blank\\\" rel=\\\"noopener nofollow\\\" title=\\\"\\\">Reuters<\/a> and Ipsos.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>More than two-thirds of respondents are concerned about negative consequences from AI adoption, and 61% believe it could threaten civilization.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>22% of respondents did not agree with this assertion, and 17% could not answer the question.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>The supporters of former U.S. President Donald Trump expressed greater concern. 70% of them agreed that AI could threaten humanity. Among Joe Biden&#8217;s voters, 60% held that view.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>Religiously, 32% of evangelicals \u201ccompletely agreed\u201d that AI threatens civilization. 24% of adherents of other Christian denominations share that view.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\\\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\\\">\n<p>\u201cThis shows that many Americans are concerned about the negative consequences of AI,\u201d said the director of US policy at the Future of Life Institute, Landon Klein.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the current situation is comparable to the dawn of the nuclear era, but there is now an opportunity to study public opinion and take necessary measures.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, researchers from The Tech Oversight Project found that a majority of Americans support the US Congress&#8217;s efforts to curb AI.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<script async=\\\"\\\" src=\\\"https:\/\/telegram.org\/js\/telegram-widget.js?22\\\" data-telegram-post=\\\"forklogAI\/4096\\\" data-width=\\\"100%\\\"><\/script>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in March, Goldman Sachs analysts said that generative AI <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/study-finds-generative-ai-threatens-300-million-jobs\">threatens about 300 million jobs<\/a> in developed countries.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>In the same month, OpenAI researchers <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/openai-gpt-models-will-affect-80-of-jobs-in-the-united-states\">assessed the impact of GPT models<\/a> on the labor market in the United States.
