According to a report filed with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/ix?doc=\/Archives\/edgar\/data\/0001679788\/000167978823000065\/coin-20230428.htm#i3cb39573656744c194f48e26318d6b44_40\"><span data-descr=\"U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission\" class=\"old_tooltip\">SEC<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In 2021, payments to Armstrong totalled just $1.9 million. The report does not specify the reasons for the higher outlays.<\/p>\n<p>The total compensation of other Coinbase executives:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span data-descr=\"Chief operating officer\" class=\"old_tooltip\">COO<\/span> Emily Choi \u2014 $23.5 million;<\/li>\n<li><span data-descr=\"Chief financial officer\" class=\"old_tooltip\">CFO<\/span> Alesia Haas \u2014 $12 million;<\/li>\n<li>Head of Product Surojit Chatterjee \u2014 $20.7 million;<\/li>\n<li>Chief Legal Officer Paul Grewal \u2014 $7.5 million;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The bulk of the executives&#8217; compensation came in the form of dividends on stock options and the company&#8217;s shares. At the same time, all five executives earn the same annual salary of $1 million.<\/p>\n<p>According to SEC documents, in April 2022 Armstrong owned 16% of Coinbase stock. Data: sec.gov.<br \/><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In May 2022, The Wall Street Journal reported that Coinbase&#8217;s top executives collectively sold shares worth <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/coinbase-top-executives-sold-1-2-billion-worth-of-stock\">$1.2 billion<\/a> from the <span data-descr=\"initial public offering\" class=\"old_tooltip\">IPO<\/span> through February.<\/p>\n<p>In the first quarter of 2023, Coinbase&#8217;s net loss was <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/coinbase-stuns-with-first-quarter-results-as-shares-rise-7\">$78.9 million<\/a> or $0.34 per share.
