{"id":78577,"date":"2023-05-11T11:04:36","date_gmt":"2023-05-11T08:04:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=78577"},"modified":"2025-09-11T05:58:46","modified_gmt":"2025-09-11T02:58:46","slug":"marathon-digital-receives-renewed-subpoena-from-the-sec","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/marathon-digital-receives-renewed-subpoena-from-the-sec\/","title":{"rendered":"Marathon Digital receives renewed subpoena from the SEC."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Marathon Digital, the miner, said it had received a <a href=\"https:\/\/ir.marathondh.com\/sec-filings\/all-sec-filings\/content\/0001493152-23-016184\/0001493152-23-016184.pdf\">subpoena<\/a> from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in connection with an investigation at one of the company&#8217;s facilities.<\/p>\n<p>According to the document, the regulator is examining whether the firm violated any provisions of the federal securities laws.<\/p>\n<p>The SEC explained that Marathon entered into &#8216;a number of agreements with several parties to design and build a data center capable of up to 100 MW in Hardin, Montana.&#8217; As part of the deal, the company issued 6 million restricted common shares in transactions that were exempt from registration.<\/p>\n<p>In November 2021, the miner had already <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/marathon-shares-slide-after-sec-investigation\">received a subpoena from the SEC<\/a>. At that time, the Commission asked the organization to provide documents related to the same facility.<\/p>\n<p>During the review of Marathon&#8217;s annual report, several accounting errors were found, and the regulator was notified immediately. Company representatives added that they &#8216;intend to cooperate&#8217; with the SEC on this matter.<\/p>\n<p>On May 10, Marathon Digital&#8217;s (MARA) shares closed at $10.22, up nearly 9% for the day, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.investing.com\/equities\/marathon-pa\">Investing.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As reported in the first quarter of 2023 Marathon Digital <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/marathon-digital-mines-record-2195-btc-in-q1\">mined 2195 BTC<\/a>. This was 41% higher than in the previous reporting period.
