This was stated by Texas Senator Ted Cruz, a Republican, at the Bitcoin Policy Summit.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-Dw0K66tKHA\" title=\"YouTube video player\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen=\"\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;I am very concerned about the CBDC risk,&#8221; Cruz said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In his view, the push for CBDC is driven by a desire to destroy all value of Bitcoin, erode anonymity and decentralization.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;The same people who want to see CBDC hate Bitcoin and cash. Let&#8217;s be clear, they do not like cash for the same reason I love it \u2014 it is not subject to centralized control [&#8230;]. And therefore I hope that we will see growing resistance to CBDC,&#8221; the senator said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>He praised the first cryptocurrency, citing its capped supply of 21 million coins as an advantage. In his view, this is especially important, &#8220;when you have irresponsible policymakers in Washington who spend money like drunken sailors.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;What is truly unfair to sailors, because, at least, they spend their own money,&#8221; the senator added.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The politician also noted that he invests in the asset:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;I hold a little over 2 BTC, and I want a bit more. I bought the dip, which suited me fine, but I am a long-term investor,&#8221; he noted.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In March <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/u-s-senator-opposes-creation-of-a-retail-cbdc\">Cruz introduced a bill<\/a>, banning the <span data-descr=\"U.S. Federal Reserve\" class=\"old_tooltip\">\u0424\u0420\u0421<\/span> from launching a consumer-oriented CBDC. In his view, CBDC technology offends American values and could contribute to &#8220;financial control&#8221; over citizens.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier he introduced <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/u-s-congressman-opposes-fed-control-over-the-digital-dollar\">a bill to protect &#8216;financial privacy&#8217;<\/a> when using central bank digital currency.
