This is stated in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fsa.go.jp\/policy\/virtual_currency\/kasoutsuka_mutouroku.pdf\">notice<\/a> <span data-descr=\"Financial Services Agency of Japan\" class=\"old_tooltip\">FSA<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>The regulator accused the platforms of violating the law and ordered them to cease serving residents.<\/p>\n<p>Cryptocurrency exchanges that do not comply with the FSA&#8217;s rules could face fines and lawsuits.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-text-wrappers-update-2 article_update\"><time class=\"gtb_text-wrappers_update_time\">April 4, 2023 | 10:09<\/time><span class=\"gtb_text-wrappers_update_head\">Update: <\/span><\/p>\n<p>Bitget representatives told ForkLog that they plan to contact the FSA for further information.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;Bitget operates through BG Limited \u2014 a Seychelles-registered company. [\u2026] we follow the rules and directives of Seychelles authorities. At present, all our operations and services are being conducted normally, and we will keep our clients informed,&#8221; the statement says.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<p>On October 14, 2022, the Japanese authorities<a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/media-japan-to-tighten-regulation-of-the-crypto-industry\"> amended<\/a> six laws governing foreign exchange in the context of anti-money-laundering measures. In particular, cryptocurrency exchanges were required to identify users and collect additional information as needed.<\/p>\n<p>As of writing, Bybit had not responded to the regulator&#8217;s order.<\/p>\n<p>In 2021, the FSA had already<a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/japanese-regulator-issues-warning-to-bybit-exchange\"> issued<\/a> a warning to the platform.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, Kraken <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/kraken-to-exit-japanese-market-in-early-2023\"> announced<\/a> its exit from the local market.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bitcoin exchanges Bybit, Bitget, BitForex and MEXC operate in Japan without the required licences.
