This is reported by <a href=\\\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/legal\/ftxs-bankman-fried-plead-not-guilty-campaign-finance-china-bribery-charges-2023-03-30\/\\\">Reuters<\/a> citing sources familiar with the matter.<\/p>\n<p>The charges involve recently filed charges of conspiracy to violate campaign-finance laws and <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/sam-bankman-fried-accused-of-bribing-a-chinese-official\">bribery of Chinese authorities<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The former head of <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/ftx-group-files-for-bankruptcy-sam-bankman-fried-resigns-as-ceo\">the exchange that collapsed<\/a> was arrested in December 2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/bahamas-authorities-arrest-ftx-founder-sam-bankman-fried\">in the Bahamas<\/a> at the request of the United States government. Prosecutors charged him with eight criminal counts.<\/p>\n<p>Contrary to <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/media-reports-bankman-fried-prepared-to-plead-guilty-to-fraud\">Reuters reports<\/a>, he <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/media-reports-bankman-fried-prepared-to-plead-guilty-to-fraud\">has refused to plead guilty<\/a>. This turn of events <a href=\\\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/sam-bankman-fried-likely-to-enter-plea-of-not-guilty-11672431309?mod=hp_lead_pos2\\\">was forecast<\/a> by WSJ sources.<\/p>\n<p>In February 2023, US authorities charged Bankman-Fried <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/sam-bankman-fried-charged-with-conspiracy-to-commit-bank-fraud\">with new charges<\/a>, including conspiracy to commit bank fraud. According to Reuters, he does not plan to enter into a plea deal on any of the counts.<\/p>\n<p>The trial is set to begin in October. <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/us-court-unveils-charges-against-sam-bankman-fried\">Bankman-Fried could face more than a century in prison.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Earlier, former Alameda Research CEO Caroline Ellison and FTX co-founder Gary Wang <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/caroline-ellison-and-gary-wang-plead-guilty-to-ftx-collapse-related-charges\">pleaded guilty in connection with the collapse of the exchange<\/a>. Later, their example <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/sec-accuses-former-ftx-top-executive-of-deceiving-investors\">was followed<\/a> <span data-descr=\\\"CTO\\\" class=\\\"old_tooltip\\\">CTO<\/span> of the failed platform Nishad Singh.<\/p>\n<p>After <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/media-reports-sam-bankman-fried-agrees-to-extradition-to-the-united-states\">extradition<\/a> to the United States, Bankman-Fried was released on bail of <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/court-grants-250m-bail-for-sam-bankman-fried\">$250 million<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In March, lawyers for the former FTX CEO <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/new-bail-terms-agreed-for-sam-bankman-fried\">reached an agreement<\/a> with U.S. prosecutors on new terms for his release.
