{"id":75258,"date":"2023-03-09T12:23:19","date_gmt":"2023-03-09T10:23:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=75258"},"modified":"2025-09-10T10:36:49","modified_gmt":"2025-09-10T07:36:49","slug":"voyager-digital-to-set-aside-445-million-for-alameda-research-payouts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/voyager-digital-to-set-aside-445-million-for-alameda-research-payouts\/","title":{"rendered":"Voyager Digital to set aside $445 million for Alameda Research payouts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A federal judge approved an agreement between the FTX exchange and Voyager Digital, under which the crypto broker will reserve $445 million to pay claims by Alameda Research. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theblock.co\/post\/218239\/judge-signs-off-on-voyager-agreement-to-reserve-445-million-after-alameda-suit\">The Block<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n<p>The deal between the two bankrupt crypto firms could potentially increase the amount recoverable for creditors of FTX and its &#8216;daughter&#8217; Alameda.<\/p>\n<p>The latter in January <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/alameda-research-sues-voyager-digital-for-445-million\">filed a lawsuit against Voyager<\/a> seeking repayment of loan disbursements that totaled the stated sum.<\/p>\n<p>The unsecured creditor committees of both companies will participate in resolving deal-related issues. Under the agreement, the parties agreed to provide mediation and a framework for court consideration of potential disputes.<\/p>\n<p>FTX and more than a hundred affiliated entities such as Alameda <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/ftx-group-files-for-bankruptcy-sam-bankman-fried-resigns-as-ceo\">filed for bankruptcy<\/a> in November 2022. Voyager <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/voyager-digital-files-for-chapter-11-bankruptcy\">took this step<\/a> as early as July.<\/p>\n<p>In March the court <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/court-approves-binance-us-purchase-of-voyager-digital-assets\">approved the sale<\/a> of the crypto broker&#8217;s assets to Binance.US. Lawyers estimate that, under the restructuring plan, creditors could recover roughly 73%. If Alameda&#8217;s claims are satisfied by the firm, the figure would fall to 48%.<\/p>\n<p>In September 2022, <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/ftx-wins-auction-for-voyager-digital-assets\">FTX won<\/a> the auction to sell Voyager&#8217;s assets. The bankrupt firm <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/ftx-us-proposes-returning-72-of-voyager-customers-frozen-assets\">reached a preliminary agreement<\/a> with the U.S. unit of the exchange run by Sam Bankman-Fried.<\/p>\n<p>After the resumption of the bidding process at the end of the year, the highest bid was placed by <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/binance-us-to-acquire-voyager-digital-assets\">Binance.US<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A federal judge approved the agreement between the FTX exchange and Voyager Digital, under which the crypto broker will reserve $445 million to pay claims by Alameda Research.
