{"id":74545,"date":"2023-02-23T11:59:32","date_gmt":"2023-02-23T09:59:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=74545"},"modified":"2025-09-09T20:45:07","modified_gmt":"2025-09-09T17:45:07","slug":"wsj-usdc-stablecoin-operator-to-raise-headcount-by-25","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/wsj-usdc-stablecoin-operator-to-raise-headcount-by-25\/","title":{"rendered":"WSJ: USDC stablecoin operator to raise headcount by 25%"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Against the backdrop of widespread layoffs in the crypto industry, Circle Internet Financial Ltd. plans to raise headcount by 15-25% by the end of the year. <a href=\\\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/crypto-company-circle-focuses-on-growth-after-canceled-spac-merger-e446f779\\\">The Wall Street Journal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The Boston-based company currently employs about 900 people. <\/p>\n<p>The operator of the <a href=\\\"https:\/\/www.coingecko.com\/en\/categories\/stablecoins\\\">second-largest by market capitalization<\/a> stablecoin USDC plans to hire an additional 135 to 225 employees. In 2022, headcount roughly doubled versus 2021.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\\\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\\\">\n<p>\u201cWe are growing and investing. We are fortunate that our financial position allows this. We slowed growth cautiously and focused on what matters most,\u201d said Circle\u2019s chief financial officer Jeremy Fox-Jean.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In July 2021 <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/circle-to-go-public-via-spac-merger-valued-at-4-5-billion\">firm<\/a> announced that it would become a public company via a reverse merger with Concord Acquisition Corp. It was reported that its shares would be listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker CRCL. However, at the end of 2022 Circle <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/circle-abandons-spac-plan-to-go-public\">terminated the deal<\/a> with <span data-descr=\\\"special purpose acquisition company\\\" class=\\\"old_tooltip\\\">SPAC<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Fox-Jean emphasised that the firm still does not abandon plans to go public, expecting market conditions to improve after the Terra crash and FTX.<\/p>\n<p>The market value of USDC is equivalent to $42.16 billion. Over the last seven days the metric rose by about $700 million (+1.69%).
