This is <a href=\\\"https:\/\/www.boj.or.jp\/en\/about\/press\/koen_2023\/ko230217a.htm\\\">stated<\/a> in the statement.<\/p>\n<p>The aim of the phase is to test the &#8216;technical feasibility&#8217; of a CBDC and extend the experiment to model an ecosystem involving companies. No real transactions are planned during the pilot.<\/p>\n<p>The BoJ said there is a need for consultations with the private sector on issues such as alternative data models, offline payment architectures and other key design elements.<\/p>\n<p>The first phase of experiments with the national digital currency <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/bank-of-japan-begins-cbdc-testing\">started<\/a> in Japan in spring 2021.<\/p>\n<p>In July, a representative of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party, Hideki Murai, said that the state <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/japan-to-unveil-a-detailed-cbdc-plan-by-year-end-2022\">will develop a more detailed CBDC project<\/a> by the end of 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Later, the central bank governor Haruhiko Kuroda noted that the regulator <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/bank-of-japan-to-decide-on-cbdc-launch-by-2026\">will decide on the advisability of issuing the digital yen after comprehensive testing<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in November 2022, BoJ, in partnership with three megabanks <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/japan-to-launch-a-new-pilot-of-the-digital-yen-in-spring-2023\">announced a pilot project<\/a> for the national digital currency.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Bank of Japan (BoJ) plans to launch a pilot programme to test the digital yen in April 2023.
