On February 21, TON validators will vote<\/a> to suspend the operation of 194 wallets with a total balance of 1.08 billion Toncoin ($2.5 billion) that have not conducted any transactions since the distribution of coins from 2020 to 2022.<\/p>\n

In December the community urged<\/a> their holders to engage with the network. Until the vote, this option will remain available to exclude them from the list.<\/p>\n

1.08 billion Toncoin, equivalent to 21.3% of the total supply of the crypto asset.<\/p>\n

The procedure will not cover addresses that did not participate in the initial coin distribution.<\/p>\n

“By suspending the operation of these wallets, there will be clarity regarding the amount of Toncoin available,”<\/em> the project blog states.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Implementation would require the participation of 75% of validators across multiple voting rounds.<\/p>\n

If approved, the proposed suspension would be in effect for four years. The ‘frozen’ addresses would be unable to transact during this period.<\/p>\n

In early November on the Fragment platform the sale of Telegram usernames<\/a> for Toncoin began.<\/p>\n

On 7 December the messenger opened the ability to register anonymous accounts<\/a> using blockchain-based numbers.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Telegram founder Pavel Durov announced development<\/a> by the messenger’s DEX team and non-custodial wallets on the Toncoin blockchain.<\/p>\n

Back in December 2021, Durov publicly supported the project\u2019s developers<\/a>.<\/p>\n
