{"id":72639,"date":"2023-01-17T15:22:51","date_gmt":"2023-01-17T13:22:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=72639"},"modified":"2025-09-09T09:30:42","modified_gmt":"2025-09-09T06:30:42","slug":"final-vote-on-eu-mica-regulation-postponed-to-april","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/final-vote-on-eu-mica-regulation-postponed-to-april\/","title":{"rendered":"Final vote on EU MiCA regulation postponed to April"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The European Parliament has postponed the final vote on the comprehensive regulation of crypto-asset markets (<span data-descr=\"Markets in Crypto Assets\" class=\"old_tooltip\">MiCA<\/span>) to April. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theblock.co\/post\/202723\/eus-final-vote-mica-regulation-postponed-april\">The Block<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n<p>The delay is described as &#8216;technical&#8217; and is likely due to translation issues of the nearly 400-page document into 24 official EU languages, according to the Parliament.<\/p>\n<p>The vote on the funds-transfer regulation will be moved to the same April session.<\/p>\n<p>The MiCA plenary session has already been postponed twice, largely due to the same translation problems.<\/p>\n<p>The postponement of the final vote will delay the development of technical standards by European financial regulators. On average, this could take 12 to 18 months after formal adoption.<\/p>\n<p>MiCA includes rules applying to issuers of unbacked crypto-assets, issuers of stablecoins, trading and custody platforms.<\/p>\n<p>Providers of crypto-asset services will be required to adhere to strict consumer-protection standards, while trading platforms will be required to provide a white paper.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in July 2022, the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/europe-reaches-agreement-on-sweeping-crypto-regulation\">agreed on a provisional version of MiCA<\/a>.
