It is also empowered to develop policy to promote digital financial technologies and to bolster diversity and inclusion within the industry.<\/p>\n<p>The subcommittee <a href=\"https:\/\/hill.house.gov\/news\/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=9066\">became<\/a> Republican congressman French Hill, who previously<a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/us-officials-call-for-launching-a-cbdc-to-compete-with-china\">led<\/a> efforts to study<a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/what-is-a-central-bank-digital-currency-cbdc\"> CBDC<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>\u201cOur work is about building bridges, while encouraging the safe and effective development of fintech innovations in the United States,\u201d<\/em> \u2014 he said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The initiative followed<a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/ftx-ceo-accuses-former-executives-of-storing-private-keys-unencrypted\"> investigation by the Committee<\/a> on the collapse of the FTX exchange. The new Speaker of the House, Patrick McHenry, underlined that the <span data-descr=\"U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission\" class=\"old_tooltip\">SEC<\/span> had shown insufficient effort against \u201cbad actors\u201d in the industry.<\/p>\n<p>In December, Senate Banking Committee Chairman Sherrod Brown suggested that regulators should consider <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/us-senate-weighs-possible-ban-on-cryptocurrencies\">the question of banning cryptocurrencies<\/a>. He acknowledged the difficulty of implementing such a scenario.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/us-senate-introduces-bill-to-tighten-crypto-regulation\">introduced a bill<\/a>, tightening the measures to combat money laundering using cryptocurrencies.
