It&#8217;s in good hands with Gavin [Andresen] and everyone\u201d<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2014 this <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/pastebin.com\/syrmi3ET\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">message<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was sent by Satoshi Nakamoto to a developer Mike Hearn on April 23rd, 2011. It is considered to be the last or one of the last confirmed contacts with the creator of Bitcoin before his, her, or their disappearance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, the hunt for Satoshi began a bit earlier. On December 12th, 2010, Nakamoto left their last post on bitcointalk.org forum, reading that Bitcoin is still vulnerable to DoS-attacks. That was the moment people started asking if Satoshi is a real person.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Since then, the search for Bitcoin\u2019s creator keeps on going. Every year the community comes up with new versions, but nobody got closer to answers. Were they really a libertarian? Did they create Bitcoin with politics in mind? Are they, in fact, Japanese? We don\u2019t know.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What we do know is that Satoshi\u2019s disappearance was decisive for Bitcoin and its history. The community was left without a leader to dictate the course of action. Meanwhile, the protocol faced an excruciating test for censorship resistance, which it passed successfully.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To sum up the findings of this almost a decade-long quest, ForkLog journalists have put together all the theories about Nakamoto\u2019s person, from plausible to the most insane ones. We promise that you\u2019ll find this conundrum as fascinating as we did.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">Eastereggs In Plain Sight<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The community is confident that Satoshi Nakamoto is a pseudonym. One of the Japanese forum users noted that it is not customary for Japanese to put the first name before the last name, as Nakamoto did. Moreover, the Bitcoin creator had never used Japanese words, which made the truth seekers believe that he\u2019s not Japanese. Yet, there were speculations that Satoshi wanted people to make this conclusion.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In Japanese <em>Satoshi<\/em> means \u201cwise\u201d or \u201cclear mind.\u201d &#8211;<em>Naka<\/em>\u00a0can mean \u201cinside\u201d or \u201crelationships,\u201d while <em>-moto<\/em> is \u201corigin,\u201d \u201cbase,\u201d \u201cfoundation.\u201d Together it means something along the lines of \u201cclear mind inside the foundation.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some enthusiasts suggested a more trivial explanation: Satoshi\u2019s name can be formed by the names of four technology companies SAmsung, TOSHIba, NAKAmichi, and MOTOrola. However, this particular assumption seems far fetched.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">April 5th, 1975. This is the birth date from <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/p2pfoundation.ning.com\/profile\/SatoshiNakamoto\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nakamoto\u2019s profile<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on P2PFoundation. Some people found hidden meanings here as well. On April 5th, 1933, the U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/1933\/04\/06\/archives\/hoarding-of-gold.html\">signed<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0Executive Order 6102 &#8220;forbidding the hoarding of gold coin, gold bullion, and gold certificates within the continental United States.&#8221; It was officially in force until December 31st, 1975, just a day before 1975.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A swiss programmer Stefan Thomas <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wired.com\/2011\/11\/mf-bitcoin\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">discovered<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that Nakamoto never posted anything between 05:00 and 11:00 GMT, even on weekends. This led Thomas to believe that Nakamoto lives in the UK. This version is backed by Nakamoto\u2019s perfect English and the usage of words such as \u201cbloody,\u201d \u201coptimise,\u201d and \u201ccolour,\u201d which are typical for the British. Satoshi has also included an excerpt from an <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.co.uk\/article\/chancellor-alistair-darling-on-brink-of-second-bailout-for-banks-n9l382mn62h\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">article<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by the British outlet The Times, highlighting the possibility of the second bailout for the UK banks, into the genesis block of Bitcoin.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is possible that Satoshi left all these clues deliberately to hide his tracks. According to a linguist Adam L. Penenberg, British English was a disguise. His investigation <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fastcompany.com\/1785445\/bitcoin-crypto-currency-mystery-reopened\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">led<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to Neal J. King, an educated and well-read man, who reviewed 46 books on Amazon, including astronomy, biology, cryptography, linguistics, literature, mathematics, philosophy, and physics. Later, King refuted any involvement with Bitcoin development.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Penenberg also claims that programmers Vladimir Oksman and Charles Bray were competent enough to create such a system, but both dismissed the claims.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Laszlo Hanyecz, the programmer who bought pizza for 10 000 BTC in 2010, once said that Bitcoin source code is too good to be made by one person. Laszlo believes that Satoshi is unlikely to be real.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bruce Kleinman, the author of \u201cThe Bitcoin Tutorial,\u201d agrees with this version. He is confident that it is impossible to find somebody who would know cryptography, network architecture, software architecture, and cybersecurity simultaneously.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Notably, one of the most extraordinary members of the crypto community John McAfee stated that Bitcoin was developed by <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/dzhon-makafi-poobeshhal-raskryt-lichnost-satoshi-nakamoto-i-soobshhil-o-ego-indijskom-proishozhdenii\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">an Indian team<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Considering McAfee\u2019s reputation this claim doesn\u2019t appear credible.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of the people who disagree with the concept of Satoshi being a group of people is Adam Back, the creator of Hashcash and CEO of Blockstream. He <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=2qhyFKPK4KY\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">highlighted<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the consistency of coding and Satoshi\u2019s writing style in letters and documents. In fact, for a while Back was considered to be the real Satoshi. He <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/bitcoinmagazine.com\/articles\/genesis-files-hashcash-or-how-adam-back-designed-bitcoins-motor-block\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">created<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Proof-Of-Work prototype back in the 1990s and was cited in Bitcoin white paper. Back himself disagreed with the claims and urged the community to stop the hunt.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2011, a famous whitehat hacker Dan Kaminsky decided to break Bitcoin. Being the one who discovered a critical vulnerability in DNS protocol, Kaminsky was confident of his skills. He designed nine approaches to attacking the protocol, but each of them failed.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>\u201cThe way the whole thing was formatted was insane. Only the most paranoid, painstaking coder in the world could avoid making mistakes,\u201d<\/strong> he said.<\/span><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dan Kaminsky noted that Satoshi is \u201ca world-class programmer, with a deep understanding of the C++ programming language,\u201d who understands economics, cryptography, and peer-to-peer networking. He concluded that Satoshi is either a team of people or a genius.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The same year, The New Yorker journalist Joshua Davis started looking for Satoshi among the visitors of the Crypto 2011 conference. He <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newyorker.com\/magazine\/2011\/10\/10\/the-crypto-currency\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">found<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> nine people from Britain and Ireland. Six of them, a group from Bristol University, didn\u2019t have experience with P2P networks. The other two had no history with large software projects. The last candidate caught the journalist\u2019s attention. It was Michael Clear, a graduate student in cryptography at Trinity College in Dublin.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The best student of 2008, Micheal developed software for Allied British Banks, authored a detailed academic document about P2P technologies, and was well-versed in C++. When asked about the financial crisis, he said that it could\u2019ve been avoided.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the end, Clear denied any connection to Bitcoin development. However, he told Davis that a Finnish researcher Vili Lehdonvirta could be Nakamoto. When contacted by the journalist, Lehdonvirta laughed and said that he\u2019s not.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/image7-3.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em><strong>\u201cI would love to say that I\u2019m Satoshi, because bitcoin is very clever, but it\u2019s not me,\u201d<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the researcher said.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lehdonvirta added that he has no experience in cryptography whatsoever and his knowledge of C++ is very limited.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Even Elon Musk was once suspected to be Satoshi because of his C++ skills. The entrepreneur <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk\/status\/935329447594541056\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">denied<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> all claims. In his later statements Musk <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ark-invest.com\/research\/podcast\/elon-musk-podcast\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">acknowledged<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the advantages of Bitcoin over paper money.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to another popular conspiracy theory, Bitcoin was created by a group of developers from the National Security Agency (NSA). An <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.org\/details\/CryptographyOfAnonymousElectronicCash\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">article<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from 1996 called \u201cHow To Make A Mint: The Cryptography Of Anonymous Electronic Cash\u201d by the Agency researchers allegedly supports this version. The community finds this theory implausible, as the NSA\u2019s description has more similarities to the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/bitcoinmagazine.com\/articles\/genesis-files-how-david-chaums-ecash-spawned-cypherpunk-dream\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">eCash system<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> designed by David Chaum.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">How to spot a crypto-charlatan: <\/p>\n<p>somebody posting this 1996 paper as evidence that somebody at NSA was thoroughly describing Bitcoin 12 years earlier (when indeed they were just superficially describing Chaum&#39;s bank-based Ecash 6 years later)<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/hJ5ISK5YFA\">https:\/\/t.co\/hJ5ISK5YFA<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Giacomo Cringe-Lord Zucco\u26a1\ufe0f\ud83c\udf0b\ud83e\uddc0 (@giacomozucco) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/giacomozucco\/status\/1162644802275594240?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 17, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some people point out the fact that <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/SHA-2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SHA-256<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was developed by the NSA, although the best cryptographers have been using it for over 15 years and didn\u2019t find any backdoors.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As a bonus to the spy theme, in 2018 the CIA <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vice.com\/en_us\/article\/mbk49y\/who-is-satoshi-nakamoto-cia-foia-fbi\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">stated<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that they \u201ccan neither confirm nor deny\u201d they have information about Satoshi\u2019s identity. The particular phrasing \u201ccan neither confirm nor deny\u201d is a so-called <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Glomar_response\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Glomar response<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> government agencies use when they don\u2019t want to disclose information.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2017, entrepreneur and investor Alexander Muse claimed that the NSA utilized PRISM and MUSCULAR surveillance systems to deanonymize Nakamoto. Allegedly, the Agency also employed stylometry: Satoshi\u2019s texts were compared with trillions of texts by other authors on the Web. His code was analyzed as well. Muse <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/@amuse\/how-the-nsa-caught-satoshi-nakamoto-868affcef595\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">says<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that the NSA has got a digital \u201cfingerprint\u201d that identifies the texts written by Nakamoto and it was already applied in further search among letters and chats of one billion people.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Curiously, there are no women or non-white people among the candidates for Satoshi\u2019s role. All of the suggested versions present the Bitcoin creator either as a male or as a group of people.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">Nakamoto\u2019s Face Or the Return Of the Creator<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/image1-36.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2014, Newsweek <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/2014\/03\/14\/face-behind-bitcoin-247957.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">published<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> arguably the most hyped investigation into Nakamoto\u2019s identity. The journalists have found a Japanese-born Californian called Dorian Satoshi Nakamoto. At the time Dorian was 64 and refused to talk to the press.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em><strong>&#8220;My brother is an asshole. What you don&#8217;t know about him is that he&#8217;s worked on classified stuff. His life was a complete blank for a while. You&#8217;re not going to be able to get to him. He&#8217;ll deny everything. He&#8217;ll never admit to starting Bitcoin,&#8221;<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> said Dorian\u2019s brother.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The man was indeed a mathematician, a physicist, and a computer engineer who worked on secret projects for private companies and the Department of Defense. His former colleague recalled how during one of the interviews Nakamoto called the interviewer an idiot and then proved it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A famous Bitcoin developer Gavin Andresen told Newsweek that Satoshi might insult one\u2019s intellectual capabilities and then stop talking to them entirely, should they make an honest mistake. Both Californian Nakamotos didn\u2019t have this trait.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Andresen also believed that Bitcoin source code was made by one person and described Satoshi\u2019s coding style as \u201cold-school.\u201d This fact pointed towards an older Satoshi.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Yet, in the end, Dorian Nakamoto, who unwillingly became the face of the Bitcoin creator, disproved all allegations:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><em>\u201cI did not create, invent or otherwise work on Bitcoin. I unconditionally deny the Newsweek report. The first time I heard the term \u2018bitcoin\u2019 was from my son in mid-February 2014.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He added that unwanted attention to his persona is hurting his family and asked to respect privacy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/image8-1.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Notably, the next day after the article was published, Nakamoto\u2019s profile on P2PFoundation came back to life to post just one <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/p2pfoundation.ning.com\/forum\/topics\/bitcoin-open-source?commentId=2003008%3AComment%3A52186\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">message<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><em>\u201cI am not Dorian Nakamoto.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It isn\u2019t clear if it was the real Satoshi or the profile was hacked. One of the possible interpretations is that it was an attempt to protect the privacy and property of an innocent person.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Satoshi\u2019s P2PFoundation profile woke up again at the end of November 2018. This time it posted the word \u201cnour\u201d and added a friend called Wagner Tamanaha<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, it is also known that a certain hacker named Jeffrey <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wired.com\/2014\/09\/satoshi\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">got access<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to <\/span><a href=\"mailto:satoshin@gmx.com\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">satoshin@gmx.com<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and posted on P2PFoundation back in 2014. Jeffrey claimed that he has information on Satoshi\u2019s real identity and is willing to sell it.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Another \u201creturn of Satoshi\u201d happened at the end of 2015, when Bitcoin developers received an <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lists.linuxfoundation.org\/pipermail\/bitcoin-dev\/2015-December\/011936.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">email<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from <\/span><a href=\"mailto:satoshi@vistamail.com\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">satoshi@vistamail.com<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2014 an address previously associated with Nakamoto. The topic was \u201cNot this again\u201d and the message said:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><em>\u201cI am not Craig Wright. We are all Satoshi.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">Faketoshi<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/image4-13.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Australian entrepreneur and scientist Craig Steven Wright is probably the only person in the world, who vigorously tries to prove that he created Bitcoin in 2008.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This version probably appeared in an investigation by The Wired published on August 12th, 2015. The article reads:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><em>\u201cEither Wright invented bitcoin, or he&#8217;s a brilliant hoaxer who very badly wants us to believe he did.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The article also mentions a computer forensics analyst David Kleiman. It calls Kleiman \u201ca close friend and confidant\u201d with whom Wright has discussed the creation of Bitcoin and maybe even the launch of the network. Interestingly, one of the first Bitcoin developers Jeff Garzik <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/byvshij-razrabotchik-bitcoin-core-dast-pokazaniya-v-dele-protiv-krejga-rajta-o-hishhenii-1-mln-btc-i-rasskazhet-o-satoshi-nakamoto\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">thinks<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that Kleiman is, in fact, the creator of the first cryptocurrency.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/image6-4.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The same year, The Wired <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wired.com\/2015\/12\/new-clues-suggest-satoshi-suspect-craig-wright-may-be-a-hoaxer\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">published<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> one more article with a set of facts speaking against the former version. According to the article, two PGP-keys that were meant to prove that Wright and Satoshi are the same person were fake. It also <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/thomasbrewster\/2015\/12\/11\/bitcoin-creator-satoshi-craig-wright-lies-hoax\/?platform=hootsuite#3b72ad3e6794\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">mentioned<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that Wright may not have earned his PhD, as Charles Sturt University\u2019s statement says it never handed Wright any degrees.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On May 2d, 2016, Craig Wright officially announced that he is Satoshi Nakamoto and BBC, Economist, and GQ have already received the proof. Some members of the community, including the creator of Bitcoin Foundation John Matonis and allegedly <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/gavinandresen.ninja\/satoshi\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gavin Andresen<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, have agreed that the claim is true.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, very soon the community started doubting. Allegedly Wright has signed a message with cryptographic keys that only Satoshi could use. The keys in question are the private keys that were tied to a block containing the first 10BTC transaction from Satoshi to a computer scientist Hal Finney. Hal retired because of the progressing amyotrophic sclerosis and died in 2014.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Shortly after, Andresen said that theoretically Wright might\u2019ve fooled him, but continued to support Wright\u2019s claim. In 2016, Andresen stopped working on Bitcoin Core client and supported Bitcoin Cash fork in 2017.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wright himself never signed messages with Satoshi\u2019s private keys again. Neither did he make transactions from Nakamoto\u2019s addresses. Craig Wright supported Bitcoin Cash and later headed its fork Bitcoin SV.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Just this summer, under oath Wright claimed that he is Satoshi Nakamoto. He said that he left the project out of shame and accused famous developers and members of the community of using Bitcoin to spread child pornography and drugs. Witnesses say that he even cried in the courtroom, although it is not included in the transcript. That day he also claimed that he first met Dave Kleiman in August 2010. It contradicts the story where Craig and Kleiman discussed the creation of a cryptocurrency back in 2008.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All in all, the version of Craig Wright, also known as Faketoshi, is quite dubious.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">The Creator Of Bitcoin Prototype<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/image5-5.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The most plausible version is that Bitcoin was created by cryptographer Nick Szabo. Enthusiastic conspirologists may have noticed a whole lot of clues.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Back in 2013, Skye Grey, a researcher who was looking for Satoshi, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/likeinamirror.wordpress.com\/2013\/12\/01\/satoshi-nakamoto-is-probably-nick-szabo\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">named<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> several reasons as to why he thinks Szabo is Satoshi:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Text analysis revealed similarities in writing style (only 0.1% of cryptographers match).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Several months prior to the launch of Bitcoin, Nick was looking for partners to work on Bit Gold. There has been no news about Bit Gold since then.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Satoshi\u2019s white paper doesn\u2019t refer to Szabo\u2019s work, while mentioning other projects, less similar to Bitcoin.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While being interested in such a decentralized cryptocurrency for a decade, Szabo seemed to have no reaction to Bitcoin whatsoever.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Shortly after Bitcoin was announced, Nick modified the timestamps on his projects to make it look like they were released after said announcement.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Subsequently, in a post on Bitcointalk Satoshi wrote that Bitcoin is a combination of two projects: Wei Dai\u2019s b-money and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/bitcoinmagazine.com\/articles\/genesis-files-bit-gold-szabo-was-inches-away-inventing-bitcoin\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Szabo\u2019s Bit Gold<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Notably, in the 90s, Szabo also invented the concept of smart-contract that was implemented only a decade later. If he was the real Satoshi, it would at least be logical. Szabo himself denied everything.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">Black Market Cryptographer<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Another investigation <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.investinblockchain.com\/new-evidence-suggests-satoshi-nakamoto-is-paul-solotshi-the-creator-of-encryption-software-e4m-and-truecrypt\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">led<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> journalists to Paul Solotshi Calder Le Roux, a 46-year old programmer with extraordinary career choices: drug and arms dealing, gold smuggling, money laundering, and even working for the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Since 2012, Paul has been in jail in the US for organizing six assassinations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 1999, he developed data encryption software called E4M for the DEA. Additionally, Paul may be involved with the creation of an on-the-fly encryption utility TrueCrypt.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/image3-10.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Le Roux is also mentioned in the documents related to the Kleiman vs. Wright court case. Craig Wright was allegedly informing the secret services and helped find the potential Satoshi.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some people suggest that after Le Roux was arrested, Wright used Kleiman to get partial access to Satoshi\u2019s wallets. They think that Wright\u2019s business partner Calvin Eire has built several data-centers to break Paul\u2019s passwords encrypted with TrueCrypt.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Simultaneously, Paul Solotshi knows C++ and his writing style is similar to Satoshi\u2019s. He also authored a manifesto containing ideas similar to those of Bitcoin, including the emphasis on strong cryptography as a way to protect personal rights.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This version is also supported by a curious <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/uk.finance.narkive.com\/zgeieb9h\/virtual-peer-to-peer-banking\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">forum post<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from 2002. It described a concept for \u201cvirtual P2P baking\u201d with some similarities to Bitcoin. The author\u2019s IP led to the Netherlands where Le Roux resided for some time.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This version may look sketchy, but it is definitely the most epic of all. Could Satoshi be a criminal?<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">Pakistani Numerologist<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A newcomer among potential Satoshi is <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/satoshinrh.com\/my-reveal-part-2\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">James Bilal Khalid Caan<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a man from Pakistan who currently lives in the UK. Caan\u2019s father was a banker from Pakistanian United Bank Limited (UBL). UBL\u2019s owner also created the Bank of Credit and Commerce International (BCCI). At its peak, the BCCI was the 7th largest bank in the world, but in 1991 the Bank of England decided to shut it down after discovering cases of money laundering, corruption, and other undesired activities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Caan believes that the real reason behind the BCCI closure is the corruption in regulatory entities. Therefore, Bitcoin is allegedly named after the bank:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/image2-65.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To come up with the name \u201cSatoshi Nakamoto\u201d Caan reportedly used methods of ancient Chaldean numerology and combined his childhood moniker \u201cShaikho\u201d, date of birth, and the name of the Satoshi Sumita, chairman of the Bank of Japan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Notably, he stored the private keys to his giant wealth of 980 000 BTC on a hard drive in his laptop. The hardware stopped working in 2010 and Caal lost access to the wallets.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Caal says he left Bitcoin development because the system was used by criminals. Craig Wright named the same reason to the court.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Later Caan faced serious health issues but promised to come back to the community with the new vision. His comeback would be dedicated to Steve Jobs.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">The Writer Who Disappeared<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Last year, an anonymous author <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wired.com\/story\/did-satoshi-nakamoto-write-this-book-excerpt-a-wired-investigation\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">announced<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> a book that would reveal Satoshi\u2019s identity and the people behind Bitcoin. The first excerpt from the book was posted at now-defunct nakamotofamilyfoundation.org.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It said that Satoshi began writing about Bitcoin when he was 20. At that time he was working as a researcher for the lab at his university. The author mentions that \u201cSatoshi Nakamoto\u201d is an equivalent of \u201cJohn Smith\u201d in the US, therefore the pseudonym doesn\u2019t necessarily mean that the creator of Bitcoin is from Japan.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the excerpt, Satoshi was interested in the cypherpunk movement since he was 14 and created Bitcoin after seven failed attempts by other people. The author concluded that Satoshi succeeded because he happened to be in the right place at the right time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After analyzing the published text, Troy Watson and his research team <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/zycrypto.com\/satoshi-book-review-verification-of-duality-excerpt-using-stylometric-analysis\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">concluded<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that it might have been made by the real Satoshi, but the promised release didn\u2019t happen.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">Other Satoshis<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are quite a few less popular theories about Satoshi\u2019s identity. At different periods, the list of suspects included an Estonian scientist <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/majandus24.postimees.ee\/4365197\/jaht-maailma-otsituimale-mehele-joudis-eestisse\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Helger Lipmaa<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a Japanese mathematician <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=emDJTGTrEm0\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Shinichi Mochizuki<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and a researcher from Texas Dustin D. Trammell.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2013 Israeli mathematicians suggested that Bitcoin may have been created by Ross Ulbricht, the founder of Silk Road marketplace. The theory was eventually <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/silk-road-satoshi-paper-retraction-2013-11\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">dismissed<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The list also included big names such as Bram Cohen, the creator of BitTorrent, and Jed McCaleb of MtGox, Ripple, Stellar.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wei Dai, the creator of the b-money concept, was also <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/bitcoinmagazine.com\/articles\/genesis-files-if-bitcoin-had-first-draft-wei-dais-b-money-was-it\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">suspected<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of being Satoshi. The documentation for b-money published in 1998 was the first link in Bitcoin white paper. Satoshi learned about it from Adam Back and tried to contact Dai, but didn\u2019t get a response.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">The Great Conundrum<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As long as there are mysteries, people will try to reveal them. If Bitcoin is to become the new form of money, the questions about its creator will be as relevant as it gets. Who did it? Why? Why did they choose to disappear instead of being rich and famous?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We do not know if the real name of Satoshi Nakamoto will ever be found out by the community. But we do know that Bictoin will keep on working, whether it happens or not.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In some sense Satoshi\u2019s disappearance is the best thing that could happen to Bitcoin, as there could be no cult of personality.
