The Mt.Gox trustee Nobuaki Kobayashi notified<\/a> creditors of the bankrupt exchange about changes to the deadlines for filing compensation claims.<\/p>\n

In October 2022, the affected creditors were offered<\/a> to register in a special online system by 10 January 2023. According to the latest document, the new date is 10 March.<\/p>\n

Users were urged to provide recipient information and select a payout method \u2014 otherwise they will not be able to receive funds. It is possible that some of these creditors will have to bring the required documents to Mt.Gox’s head office or to the place designated by the trustee for receiving payments in yen.<\/p>\n

Those who completed the process do not need to go through it again. This category was asked to refrain from making any changes.<\/p>\n

The trustee also moved the deadlines for the principal, interim, and early lump-sum repayments\u2014from 31 July to 30 September.<\/p>\n

The once-largest Bitcoin exchange Mt.Gox collapsed in early 2014. This followed reports of its alleged hack and the theft of 800,000 BTC ($480 million at the time).<\/p>\n

The civil-rehabilitation process was launched in 2018.<\/p>\n

In 2020, Kobayashi submitted<\/a> a plan to reimburse creditors in the Tokyo court, which approved the document<\/a>. At that time, the platform’s wallet held 137,891 BTC.<\/p>\n

In August 2022, Mt.Gox creditors rejected reports of reimbursements<\/a> within the civil-rehabilitation process.<\/p>\n
