{"id":71415,"date":"2022-12-13T22:18:04","date_gmt":"2022-12-13T20:18:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=71415"},"modified":"2025-09-08T08:36:45","modified_gmt":"2025-09-08T05:36:45","slug":"us-court-unveils-charges-against-sam-bankman-fried","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/us-court-unveils-charges-against-sam-bankman-fried\/","title":{"rendered":"US court unveils charges against Sam Bankman-Fried"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Southern District of New York <a href=\"https:\/\/assets.bwbx.io\/documents\/users\/iqjWHBFdfxIU\/rrOLy0EvAlfc\/v0\">unveiled<\/a> charges against Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF) in eight criminal counts as part of the investigation into the <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/ftx-group-files-for-bankruptcy-sam-bankman-fried-resigns-as-ceo\">collapse of FTX<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>According to the indictment, SBF conspired with partners to defraud, illegally divert customer funds from the trading platform, and use them to pay Alameda Research&#8217;s expenses and debts.<\/p>\n<p>Among the counts are money laundering and violations of U.S. campaign finance laws. SBF allegedly made donations on behalf of others to avoid the annual $25,000 limit.<\/p>\n<p>According to Nicolas Biase, spokesman for the U.S. attorney&#8217;s office, Bankman-Fried faces up to 115 years in prison on the aggregate of the criminal counts.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/sec-charges-sam-bankman-fried-with-fraud-tied-to-ftx\">accused SBF<\/a> of defrauding investors in FTX and misusing customer funds of the trading platform.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, Bahamian authorities <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/bahamas-authorities-arrest-ftx-founder-sam-bankman-fried\">arrested SBF<\/a> at the request of the U.S. government.<\/p>\n<p>On December 13, the founder of FTX <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/sam-bankman-fried-ignores-summons-to-u-s-senate-hearings\">was due to testify<\/a> before the Senate Banking Committee hearings.
