The proposal <a href=\"https:\/\/eips.ethereum.org\/EIPS\/eip-1153\">was published<\/a> in June 2018 and aims to optimise gas usage by introducing new temporary storage functions for transaction data. Its co-author was Uniswap programmer Moody Salem.<\/p>\n<p>In Cochran&#8217;s view, the proposed update opens a \u201ccheap vector\u201d for <a href=\"https:\/\/ru.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/DoS-%D0%B0%D1%82%D0%B0%D0%BA%D0%B0\">DoS attacks<\/a> and gives Uniswap an edge, which uses its own opcodes for gas efficiency. He called the solution under-tested and \u201cunfair\u201d to all Ethereum users.<\/p>\n<p>Salem rebutted his assertion regarding the attack vector. He noted that, contrary to Cochran&#8217;s portrayal, the proposal does not involve gas refunds, and its implementation has been thoroughly tested.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">This is false. Transient storage does not have any refunds. It\u2019s not a DOS vector, and the implementations are explicitly DOS tested.
