Aeria Canada Studio announced a partnership with Ready Games to migrate its most popular games to Web3. The Block reports.<\/p>\n
The company’s products will be redesigned to integrate NFTs and to complement the infrastructure elements of the next-generation internet.<\/p>\n
The changes will primarily affect the game Rescue Robots: Sniper Survival, downloaded more than 5 million times from Google’s Play Store.<\/p>\n
According to Ready Games representatives, the new initiative will create a secondary market for trading in-game assets.<\/p>\n
Some major gaming companies have expressed skepticism toward Web3, including regarding the use of NFTs in games. For example, the Minecraft studio Mojang Studios excluded<\/a> NFT integration. Valve Corporation banned<\/a> hosting blockchain games on Steam. Developers Rockstar Games recently opposed<\/a> the introduction of NFTs and other digital assets on third-party servers of their Grand Theft Auto series.<\/p>\n Countering the skeptics, Ready Games CEO David Bennaum believes that some aspects of the next-generation internet may seem \u00abvery interesting\u00bb to Web2 gamers.<\/p>\n \u00abFirst and foremost, they [users] become full owners of the asset they acquire, backed by an on-chain contract\u00bb, the executive explained.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Also, he says, digital objects can migrate from one game to another. This increases the value of assets.<\/p>\n Ready Games’ integration with Web3 began relatively recently \u2014 at the start of this year. In May, the project raised $3m<\/a> following a token sale.<\/p>\n Earlier, Fenix Games closed a funding round of $150m<\/a> to acquire, financially support and distribute blockchain games.<\/p>\n\n
