He currently owns assets worth about $338.6 million. The majority of them are held in Ethereum.<\/p>\n<p>The hacker appeared on Ethereum whales list from<a href=\"https:\/\/www.coincarp.com\/currencies\/ethereum\/richlist\/\"> CoinCarp<\/a> after the Beacon Chain deposit contract, many exchanges,<a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/what-is-a-layer%e2%80%912-solution-in-blockchain\"> second-layer protocols<\/a> and DeFi bridges. His share stood at 0.19%.<\/p>\n<p>The top 20 wallets account for 27.7% of Ethereum&#8217;s circulating supply, the top 50 for about a third.<\/p>\n<p>According to Elliptic, the total damage from the hacker&#8217;s actions amounted to<a href=\"https:\/\/hub.elliptic.co\/analysis\/477-million-moved-out-of-ftx-in-suspected-theft\/\"> $477 million<\/a>, which is more than $400 million higher than the initial estimate<a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/unknown-actors-moved-more-than-400-million-from-ftx-wallets\">. He converted most of the stolen funds into Ethereum. $186 million of the $663 million withdrawn that day was moved by FTX itself to cold wallets.<\/p>\n<p>Cointelegraph interviewed experts who, at the time of the incident, suggested that the breach was carried out by an insider.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>\u201cIf there was no compromise of a private key (for which there is currently no evidence), we cannot rule out that someone with access to FTX and FTX US wallets moved the funds to their own wallets,\u201d<\/em> \u2014<a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/ftx-hacker-still-draining-exchange-wallets-analyst-calls-it-on-chain-spoofing\"> commented<\/a> Hugh Brooks, Chief Security Officer at Certik.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>As CoinDesk reports, CTO Gary Wang, head of development Nishad Singh and former CEO of the company Sam Bankman-Fried controlled the code, the exchange&#8217;s matching mechanism and the funds.
