BlockFi also urged users to refrain from depositing into wallets and into interest-bearing accounts.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;We are shocked and alarmed by the news surrounding FTX and Alameda. We are like the rest of the world, which learned about this situation via Twitter. [\u2026] Our priority remains protecting clients and their interests,&#8221; the platform team said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>She pledged to keep users informed as frequently as possible.<\/p>\n<p>On November 8, BlockFi founder Flori Marquez <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/crypto-industry-participants-distance-themselves-from-ftx-and-alameda-research\">assured<\/a> that all of the company\u2019s products were operational, and the business did not depend on <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/who-is-sam-bankman-fried\">Sam Bankman-Fried<\/a>\u2019s firms.<\/p>\n<p>In July the platform <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/ftx-us-signs-deal-with-blockfi-with-option-to-acquire-the-lending-platform\">entered into an agreement<\/a> with FTX US. The terms provided for the US unit being loaned $400 million with an option to purchase the company for $240 million.<\/p>\n<p>On November 10, Bankman-Fried <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/bankman-fried-ftx-assets-exceed-customer-deposits\">stated<\/a> that <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/bloomberg-and-wsj-report-an-8-billion-hole-in-ftx-balance-sheet\">the liquidity crisis<\/a> had not affected FTX US. However the American platform posted on its site an announcement about possible cessation of trading in the coming days. Traders were advised to close their positions; withdrawals remain possible.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh6.googleusercontent.com\/Q2lblBZH9cBII5ij7OhE8pjfm1pBS1GvYbU7_aVpQ43YAVER4oIoKpGTVtrQNPsjSGtwkM6xvMP-FP65_Qr5wpKDLMggCSzGuh2EqrSucr9CiVHCb0QpRQzcMd8KlWzASRnpZsJCbH9umN8ruDcmiXBG0UvvjTcyM-BRrvb82HpaUB55Fnb6SQqNRHuzEg\" alt=\"BlockFi halts withdrawals amid FTX crisis\"\/><figcaption>Data: <a href=\"https:\/\/ftx.us\/profile\">FTX US<\/a>.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>As with BlockFi, a number of other large crypto firms sought to distance themselves from the collapsing FTX.<\/p>\n<p>On November 9 Genesis Trading stressed that it continues normal operations and does not own &#8220;centralized-exchange tokens.&#8221; The following day, Barry Silbert\u2019s Digital Currency Group subsidiary said that about $175 million of funds were locked on its FTX account.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">As part of our goal in providing transparency around this week\u2019s market events, the Genesis derivatives business currently has ~$175M in locked funds in our FTX trading account. This does not impact our market-making activities.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Genesis (@GenesisTrading) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GenesisTrading\/status\/1590836594382032896?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 10, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Also on November 9, Crypto.com CEO Kris Marszalek wrote that the crisis\u2019s impact on the platform\u2019s operations was negligible.<\/p>\n<p>A day later the company <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/crypto-com-suspends-usdc-and-usdt-withdrawals-on-solana-amid-ftx-crisis\">suspended deposits and withdrawals<\/a> in USDC and USDT on the <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/what-is-solana-sol\">Solana<\/a> blockchain. Marszalek noted that FTX had been the most important venue for these stablecoins in the blockchain ecosystem.<\/p>\n<p>As reported, U.S. regulators have begun investigating <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/us-regulators-investigations-into-ftx-come-to-light\">FTX<\/a>, according to media.
