A significant portion of the losses is tied to the <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/bnb-chain-team-restores-network-after-100-million-hack\">hack of the BSC Token Hub bridge<\/a> on the BNB Chain \u2014 $586 million. However, hackers had only managed to withdraw about $100 million.<\/p>\n<p>Projects recovered roughly the same amount as above. Therefore real losses stood at $657.2 million.<\/p>\n<p>The Mango Markets DeFi platform hackers <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/mango-markets-community-approves-47-million-deal-with-hacker\">kept $48 million<\/a> for themselves under an agreement with the protocol&#8217;s community from <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/hacker-stole-more-than-100-million-from-mango-markets-defi-platform\">assets withdrawn totaling about $116 million<\/a>. The hacker who robbed the cross-chain exchange Transit Swap <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/decentralized-exchange-transit-swap-loses-21-million-in-hacker-attack\">about $21 million<\/a> kept $5.52 million as a reward.<\/p>\n<p>Losses of the DeFi project Team Finance after withdrawals of unknown <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/hacker-siphons-15-8m-from-defi-protocol-team-finance\">assets worth $15.8 million<\/a> amounted to only $2.4 million. The other funds were returned by the hacker.<\/p>\n<p>In mid-October, Chainalysis specialists noted that the month <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/chainalysis-october-sets-a-new-record-for-hacker-losses\">became the most expensive in 2022<\/a> in terms of the value of cryptocurrency stolen by criminals.
