This view was expressed by Thomas Moser, a member of the Swiss National Bank (SNB) board, in an interview with <a href=\\\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/central-banks-can-push-defi-into-mainstream-swiss-national-bank-official\\\">Cointelegraph<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, centralisation and decentralisation in digital currencies &#8220;can work together&#8221;. As an example, he cited stablecoins USDT and USDC.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\\\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\\\">\n<p>\u00abThus, &#8216;something centralized&#8217; has already helped DeFi a lot,\u00bb said Moser.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>However, central bank digital currency outperforms \u00abstablecoins\u00bb because \u00abdoes not entail counterparty risk\u00bb, the SNB official added. He noted that cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum are not suitable for sustaining DeFi growth due to volatility.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\\\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\\\">\n<p>\u00ab<a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/what-are-algorithmic-stablecoins\">Algorithmic stablecoins<\/a> also do not entail counterparty risk, but so far we have not seen successful projects.
