{"id":67667,"date":"2022-09-26T12:19:27","date_gmt":"2022-09-26T09:19:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=67667"},"modified":"2025-09-07T07:55:17","modified_gmt":"2025-09-07T04:55:17","slug":"bloomberg-reports-binance-plans-to-return-to-japan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/bloomberg-reports-binance-plans-to-return-to-japan\/","title":{"rendered":"Bloomberg reports Binance plans to return to Japan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The cryptocurrency exchange Binance has applied for a licence to operate in Japan, four years after abandoning plans to establish a headquarters in the country. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2022-09-26\/binance-seeks-permit-to-return-to-japan-market-after-four-years\"> Bloomberg<\/a> reports, citing sources.<\/p>\n<p>According to them, the exchange&#8217;s interest in Japan is driven by a softer supervisory approach to the sector and a &#8216;significant potential&#8217; for user growth.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;It would be inappropriate to comment on any dialogue with regulators,&#8221; a company spokesperson told the publication.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>He stressed that Binance is committed to working with authorities &#8216;to shape policy that protects consumers, encourages innovation, and advances the industry.&#8217; The Financial Services Agency (FSA) declined to comment.<\/p>\n<p>In 2018 the FSA issued Binance with a warning that it needed a licence to continue operating in the country. In the same year the regulator tightened the risk-assessment process for launching new cryptocurrency exchanges.<\/p>\n<p>Two years later, Binance decided to restrict access to the platform for Japanese users. It later emerged that the exchange and the local crypto-trading firm TaoTao <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/binances-japanese-expansion-stalls-as-talks-with-local-partner-fail\">did not reach an agreement<\/a> on the creation of a joint venture.<\/p>\n<p>As a reminder, in the summer of 2021 the <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/japanese-regulator-issues-another-warning-to-binance\">FSA sent Binance<\/a> another warning for operating in Japan without a licence.
