I hope Zcash and Dogecoin move to PoS\u00bb.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>On September 15, 2022, Ethereum <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/ethereum-activates-the-merge-blockchain-shifts-to-pos\">activated the Merge upgrade<\/a>, which switched the blockchain to the Proof-of-Stake algorithm and reduced its energy consumption by 99%. The upgrade also laid the groundwork for the next phase of network development \u2014 The Surge. The latter, according to Buterin, will be &#8216;much less of a one-off event&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, the Electric Coin Company <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/zcash-developers-unveil-roadmap-to-2025\">unveiled<\/a> a roadmap for Zcash development through 2025. The plan also envisions the network&#8217;s transition to PoS. Among the advantages cited by developers was a reduction in pressure on cryptocurrency prices.<\/p>\n<p>The Dogecoin team also hinted at the possibility of migrating the project to PoS. In December 2021, the nonprofit Dogecoin Foundation <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/dogecoin-foundation-and-vitalik-buterin-to-develop-doge-staking-mechanism\">said<\/a> that, together with Buterin, it was working on a staking mechanism for the meme cryptocurrency. <\/p>\n<p>At the same time, one of the leading developers, Ross Nicoll, said he would like to see PoS studied.
