This is disclosed in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/Archives\/edgar\/data\/1050446\/000119312522247427\/d355455d8k.htm\">report<\/a> filed with the <span data-descr=\"U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission\" class=\"old_tooltip\">SEC<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Founder and former CEO Michael Saylor said the purchases were made between August 2 and September 19 at an average price of $19,851 per BTC.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">MicroStrategy has purchased an additional 301 bitcoins for ~$6.0 million at an average price of ~$19,851 per <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/bitcoin?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#bitcoin<\/a>. As of 9\/19\/22 <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MicroStrategy?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@MicroStrategy<\/a> holds ~130,000 bitcoins acquired for ~$3.98 billion at an average price of ~$30,639 per bitcoin.<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/5kYW98ij4I\">https:\/\/t.co\/5kYW98ij4I<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Michael Saylor (@saylor) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/saylor\/status\/1572196173334839303?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 20, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>The previous investment by MicroStrategy in the first cryptocurrency occurred in June \u2014 the firm acquired <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/microstrategy-buys-480-btc-for-10-million\">480 BTC for about $10 million<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>MicroStrategy and its subsidiaries currently own roughly 130,000 BTC worth about $3.98 billion.<\/p>\n<p>As of writing, Bitcoin is trading around $19,070, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coingecko.com\/uk\">CoinGecko<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As reported in August 2022, Michael Saylor<a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/michael-saylor-to-step-down-as-microstrategy-ceo\"> left the position of chief executive officer <\/a> of MicroStrategy to focus on \u201cinnovation and the company\u2019s long-term strategy,\u201d which implies further purchases and holding of bitcoin.<\/p>\n<p>On September 9, the company announced plans <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/microstrategy-to-sell-up-to-500-million-in-shares-proceeds-could-be-used-to-buy-bitcoin\">to sell up to $500 million worth of shares<\/a>.
