Gox to suspend accepting claims for Bitcoin restitution"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From 15 September, the bankrupt Mt. Gox exchange will halt the acceptance of claims for restitution of funds to benefit third parties as part of the civil rehabilitation process. This is stated in a letter addressed to creditors <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mtgox.com\/img\/pdf\/20220831_announcement_en.pdf\">letter<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The prohibition will continue until the end of the base repayment period. The exact date will be determined by the rehabilitation trustee with court approval.<\/p>\n<p>During this period, assignment, transfer or succession of rehabilitation claims, providing them as collateral, or disposal of such claims by other means is prohibited. According to the document, this is necessary &#8220;to ensure safe and reliable payments&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The rehabilitation trustee will cease accepting filings for claim-transfer procedures through all available channels, including the Rehabilitation Claims Submission System, email, offline mode and others.<\/p>\n<p>The cash repayment date may be postponed by court order due to delays in selling the cryptocurrency.<\/p>\n<p>Mt.Gox also asked to refrain from transferring rehabilitation claims to a third party during the specified period to avoid additional complications. Access for such users to the system will be restricted, and registered claimants who have asserted a transfer of their claims will be removed as invalid.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, the once-largest Bitcoin exchange Mt. Gox collapsed in early 2014 after reports of a suspected hack and the alleged theft of 800,000 BTC (worth about $480 million at the time).<\/p>\n<p>The civil rehabilitation process was launched in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>In 2020, Mt. Gox trustee Nobuaki Kobayashi <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/mt-gox-trustee-submits-2-6-billion-plan-to-compensate-bitcoin-creditors\">filed<\/a> a plan to reimburse creditors in the Tokyo district court, which <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/court-approves-mt-gox-creditors-restitution-plan\">approved the document<\/a>. At that time Mt.
