While there was a time where ~everything except Bitcoin was basically a scam, that hasn\u2019t been true for a long time, and the smart money has moved on to figuring out which projects are going somewhere, and which are straight pump-and-dumps.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Matt Corallo (@TheBlueMatt) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TheBlueMatt\/status\/1556448996159377414?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 8, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThere was a time when roughly everything except Bitcoin was crypto-scam. But that has long since been untrue, and the &#8216;smart money&#8217; has moved on to figuring out which projects are going somewhere, and which are straight <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/what-is-pump-and-dump\">Pump &#038; Dump<\/a>,\u201d Corallo wrote.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In his words, \u201cthe loudest supporters\u201d are counterproductive, attacking other communities instead of promoting the \u201cgreatness and uniqueness\u201d of digital gold.<\/p>\n<p>Corallo believes that discussions should focus on Bitcoin&#8217;s qualities that make it \u201ca real candidate to play the role of a truly neutral currency for the internet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The developer believes that \u201cnarrative wars\u201d will intensify with the <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/ethereum-developers-approve-pos-transition-timetable-cryptocurrency-up-12\">transition of Ethereum<\/a> to the consensus algorithm <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/what-is-the-proof-of-work-pow-algorithm\">Proof-of-Stake<\/a> (PoS).<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cPeople who have only heard from Bitcoiners about how \u2018PoS won\u2019t work\u2019 will have even fewer reasons to listen,\u201d Corallo said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>He argues that, given the entrenched politics of project rivalry within the crypto community, many Ethereum supporters (as with Ripple earlier) will begin lobbying regulators against Bitcoin, citing environmental concerns.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cBecause <span data-descr=\"Proof-of-Work\" class=\"old_tooltip\">PoW<\/span> boils the ocean,\u201d the developer quipped, nodding to the widely held concerns in society about it.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Users in Corallo\u2019s thread discussion diverged sharply. People are gradually realizing that everything except Bitcoin is a scam. Some look legit, but ultimately they\u2019re scams.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-conversation=\"none\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">The opposite is actually true. New Maxies are minted every bear cycle. People are slowly waking up to the fact that anything other than bitcoin is a scam. BTC is fundamentally different to the smart contract platforms out there, so those that prefer that will be Maxis.
