In July 2021 the algorithm decoded 350,000 3D structures. Since then thousands of scientists have used the system, according to DeepMind.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>More than 500,000 researchers and biologists have used the database to view more than 2 million structures. And these predictive structures have helped scientists make new brilliant discoveries,<\/p>\n<p> said DeepMind founder and CEO Demis Hassabis.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>For example, in April 2022, Yale University scientists used the AlphaFold database to develop a new highly effective malaria vaccine. In July 2021, researchers at the University of Portsmouth turned to the system to design enzymes that will tackle environmental pollution from single-use plastics.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>This has moved us forward by a year, if not two,<\/p>\n<p> said John McGihan, director of the Portsmouth Center for Enzyme Innovation.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>DeepMind also said that over the past year scientists published more than 1,000 papers using AlphaFold. In the future, researchers plan to deploy the algorithm to create drugs against less-studied but widespread tropical diseases such as <a href=\"https:\/\/ru.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/%D0%9B%D0%B5%D0%B9%D1%88%D0%BC%D0%B0%D0%BD%D0%B8%D0%BE%D0%B7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">\u043b\u0435\u0439\u0448\u043c\u0430\u043d\u0438\u043e\u0437\u0430<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In July 2021, DeepMind introduced AlphaFold, <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/deepmind-ai-maps-20000-human-protein-structures\">which had modeled 20,000 human protein structures<\/a>.
