[\u2026] Aptos could become a reliable foundation for <\/em><em>Web3<\/em><em>. It will allow users around the world to experience the benefits of decentralisation\u201d<\/em>, said Mo Shaikh, the project&#8217;s CEO.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The founders of Aptos previously worked on the <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.news\/libra-association-smenila-nazvanie-na-diem-association\/\">Diem project<\/a> (formerly Libra) from Facebook. In February 2022, the Diem Association announced the sale of the company&#8217;s intellectual property and other assets related to the management of the payment network to Silvergate Capital Corporation.<\/p>\n<p>On March 15, the team <a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/aptoslabs\/expanding-the-aptos-community-38c5b18a84b7\">announced<\/a> the launch of a testnet for developers. On May 16 and June 30, the wider public <a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/aptoslabs\/aptos-incentivized-testnet-roadmap-209be695c77c\">gained access<\/a> to two testnets (two more are announced for July and August).
