We are very excited to reveal our plans to expand the service onto <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/what-is-a-layer%e2%80%912-solution-in-blockchain\">L2<\/a>, starting with expanding stETH in the growing DeFi ecosystem [built on Layer 2 solutions]. For users, this means staking with lower fees and access to a new set of yield-enhancing decentralized applications,\u201d the developers wrote.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Lido Finance \u2014 a service for <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/what-is-liquid-staking\">liquid staking<\/a> of cryptocurrencies. The protocol allows depositing coins into the relevant contract and receiving in exchange a bundle of \u201cderivative\u201d tokens, which can be used in DeFi services. In the case of Ethereum these are stETH tokens.<\/p>\n<p>The project team stressed that it will not be limited to a single L2 solution. The service will launch \u201cin all sufficiently tested Layer 2 networks with demonstrated economic activity.\u201d They plan to start with Arbitrum and Optimism.<\/p>\n<p>To implement this, Lido has already integrated with Aztec and Argent. The former is a privacy-focused Layer 2 network using ZK-Rollups, the latter is a wallet provider that employs zkSync from Matter Labs.<\/p>\n<p>In the initial phase the team will provide support for wrapped stETH (wstETH). The collaborations with the two projects above will allow users to deploy wstETH on the available Layer 2 networks.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/dune.com\/LidoAnalytical\/Lido-Finance-Extended\">Dune Analytics<\/a>, Lido is the largest liquid staking service for Ethereum 2.0. It accounts for over 31% of all assets on the corresponding deposit contract. <span data-descr=\"amount of funds locked in smart contracts\" class=\"old_tooltip\">TVL<\/span> of the project is estimated at $6.25 billion.<\/p>\n<p>In June 2022 the discount on stETH <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/lidos-tokenized-ethereum-platform-falls-5-vs-the-original\">exceeded 5%<\/a>.
