Changpeng Zhao, the CEO and co-founder of major cryptocurrency exchange Binance, believes that 2018 is a \u201ccorrection year\u201d for cryptocurrencies, which makes him express general optimism for the future of the industry.<\/p>\n

In an interview<\/a> with Bloomberg, Changpeng Zhao noted that while \u201cprice is a very strong attraction\u201d for speculators, the industry will grow thanks to developers who build applications and \u201creal use cases\u201d that drive the further adoption of cryptocurrency.<\/p>\n

When asked about how the bear market that had been plaguing traders this year affected the company\u2019s plans, Zhao said that Binance launched one fiat exchange, and plans to launch two or three \u201cin the next month or so,\u201d and ten more fiat exchanges next year.<\/p>\n

\u201cNone of our plans changed, we are still pushing forward very aggressively,\u201d he added.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Speaking of the increased regulation and government involvement in the crypto space, Changpeng Zhao said that the industry definitely wants clarity and that there is still \u201ctoo much uncertainty in many countries in the world.\u201d He added that the industry wants \u201cregulation that promotes innovation, and not things that just totally hamper it.\u201d<\/p>\n

He concluded by saying that he is still \u201cvery confident in the industry.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Bitcoin price has corrected higher since it tested its 15-month low earlier this month. Adding a whopping 21% from the last week, the flagship cryptocurrency has zoomed past $4,100 on Thursday morning, while the accumulated market cap of the cryptocurrencies is now above the $130 billion mark.<\/p>\n
