The announcement was made at a press conference by the company\u2019s chief executive Changpeng Zhao, reported ABS-CBN journalist Jekki Pascual.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Zhao says he has met with some Philippine officials, hopes to get licenses for Binance such as the Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASP) &#038; Electronic Money Issuer (EMI). He supports a regulated industry.<br \/>\u00abRegulation helps adoption, not the other way around.\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Jekki Pascual (@jekkipascual) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jekkipascual\/status\/1534397079627472896?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 8, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/mb.com.ph\/2022\/06\/08\/binance-aims-to-bring-web3-to-the-country\/\">Manila Bulletin<\/a>, Zhao noted the country\u2019s advanced payment infrastructure and the population\u2019s awareness of cryptocurrencies. In his view, the Philippines has created conditions in which \u201cinnovation works better.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The head of Binance said that he has already met with government officials to discuss this matter. He also announced that the company will expand its local team, as the Philippines is one of the most important markets in Southeast Asia.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cWe are working closely with the authorities \u2014 advising them or helping to shape regulations, sharing our best practices and providing feedback from the industry\u2019s perspective,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Zhao did not name specific timelines for registration in the Philippines. He said the process is affected by too many external factors. He expects the plans to be realised within a few months.<\/p>\n<p>In May Binance <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/binance-gains-licence-to-provide-digital-asset-services-in-italy\">received a provider-of-services license<\/a> for digital asset markets in Italy.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, the French Financial Markets Authority <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/binance-secures-digital-asset-service-provider-license-in-france\">granted the company a similar license<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The cryptocurrency exchange Binance plans to apply for licenses as a virtual asset service provider and electronic money issuer in the Philippines.
