The statement was made by Vasily Shpak, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.interfax.ru\/business\/843369\">\u043f\u0438\u0448\u0435\u0442<\/a> \u00abInterfax\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, cryptocurrency mining consumes more energy than agriculture.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;In this sense, we cannot fail to recognise mining as an industrial activity or sector,&#8221; the official said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Shpak proposed regulating this sector to make it transparent to the state and shield miners from potential risks.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;Our position is absolutely unequivocal: mining must be recognised, regulated and integrated into industrial activity,&#8221; added the deputy head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Earlier this week, the State Duma registered the updated draft law <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.io\/v-gosdumu-vnesli-novyj-zakonoproekt-o-majninge-v-rf\/\">\u043e\u0431\u043d\u043e\u0432\u043b\u0435\u043d\u043d\u044b\u0439 \u043f\u0440\u043e\u0435\u043a\u0442 \u0437\u0430\u043a\u043e\u043d\u0430 \u00ab\u041e \u043c\u0430\u0439\u043d\u0438\u043d\u0433\u0435 \u0432 \u0420\u0424\u00bb<\/a>. The previous document was withdrawn.<\/p>\n<p>The new draft law excludes provisions relating to the registry of mining participants and <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.io\/v-gosdumu-vnesli-zakonoproekt-o-majninge-v-rf\/\">\u00ab\u0430\u043c\u043d\u0438\u0441\u0442\u0438\u0438\u00bb \u0434\u043b\u044f \u043f\u043e\u0441\u043b\u0435\u0434\u043d\u0438\u0445<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u041f\u043e <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.io\/rossiya-vypala-iz-trojki-liderov-po-dole-v-heshrejte-bitkoina\/\">\u0434\u0430\u043d\u043d\u044b\u043c<\/a> Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance data, in mid-May Russia moved to fifth place in the share of Bitcoin&#8217;s hash rate, at 4.7%.
