China rose to second place and displaced Russia from the top three, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/ccaf.io\/cbeci\/mining_map\">\u0434\u0430\u043d\u043d\u044b\u043c<\/a> Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance (CCAF).<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh6.googleusercontent.com\/-QewPZCSjMyPKiwZkTNV3vWPZwTlkUTua6ESEm-ts1C60IgXOfcrNg0xX8agdWOhcezBKSRerCLv6uar_OW8ttOJQnJa_K0cuf7rElJwnw73Q9CXLtfTWH8HjKFejOva4hyV_Tc7Dv_IyHVmsA\" alt=\"Russia drops out of Bitcoin hashrate top three\"\/><figcaption>Data: CCAF.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In July 2021, amid the mining ban in China, the United States <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/us-takes-the-lead-in-bitcoin-hashrate-share\">took the lead<\/a> in the share of Bitcoin&#8217;s computing power. Kazakhstan and Russia followed in the rankings.<\/p>\n<p>According to the updated CCAF mining map, researchers had already recorded a substantial return of hashrate to the network from China in September. As of January 2022, the country&#8217;s relative share reached 21.1%. Kazakhstan accounted for 13.2%, Russia 4.7%. Canada overtook the latter (6.5%).<\/p>\n<p>By the end of 2021, experts <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.io\/smi-20-moshhnostej-po-dobyche-bitkoina-ostayutsya-v-kitae\/\">\u043e\u0437\u0432\u0443\u0447\u0438\u043b\u0438 \u043e\u0446\u0435\u043d\u043a\u0443 \u0434\u043e\u043b\u0438 \u041a\u041d\u0420 \u0432 \u0445\u0435\u0448\u0440\u0435\u0439\u0442\u0435<\/a> \u2014 about 20%. The figure almost matched what researchers from CCAF had determined.<\/p>\n<p>As of December, among US regions by Bitcoin network hashrate, Georgia led, accounting for 30.8% of the country\\&#8217;s total.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh5.googleusercontent.com\/0byTu_8toEB8VzHqdNY6f-zwVnZnyLcNv5a2y1f1Hc8hJZn3zrHOh22ncJXRKZXhdTNVUt_Uh0wcw5Ll9K-xKTL2aP67-psNTv6G9Ofqpeq9NJpdQyNlU5u4TKwYyVbGczmV4IwdmdlD8MTNUA\" alt=\"Russia drops out of Bitcoin hashrate top three\"\/><figcaption>Data: CCAF.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Texas (11.2%) and Kentucky (10.9%) followed with a sizable gap.<\/p>\n<p>New York&#8217;s share stood at 9.8%. In April, the state&#8217;s lower house passed a bill on <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/new-york-assembly-approves-two-year-moratorium-on-crypto-mining\">two-year restrictions on mining<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Riot Blockchain and Marathon Digital Holdings are deploying large-scale mining infrastructure projects in Texas \u2014 with capacities of 1 GW and 300 MW respectively.<\/p>\n<p>In May, Argo Blockchain <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.io\/argo-blockchain-poluchit-ot-nydig-70-mln-v-vide-kredita-na-zakupku-majnerov\/\">launched the first phase of a data center<\/a> (200 MW) in Dickens County.
