{"id":61006,"date":"2022-05-05T08:16:43","date_gmt":"2022-05-05T05:16:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=61006"},"modified":"2025-09-05T09:35:07","modified_gmt":"2025-09-05T06:35:07","slug":"imf-warns-of-potential-problems-from-bitcoin-legalization-in-the-central-african-republic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/imf-warns-of-potential-problems-from-bitcoin-legalization-in-the-central-african-republic\/","title":{"rendered":"IMF warns of potential problems from bitcoin legalization in the Central African Republic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The International Monetary Fund (IMF) says that adopting Bitcoin as legal tender in the Central African Republic (CAR) could pose problems for the country and the region. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2022-05-04\/bitcoin-adoption-by-central-african-republic-a-concern-imf-says?sref=AACmJ2tc\">Bloomberg<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n<p>The IMF said that with the legalization of the first cryptocurrency in CAR there would be problems &#8220;in the areas of law, economic policy and transparency.&#8221; The Fund is aiding the authorities in addressing them.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, the CAR <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/central-african-republic-becomes-the-worlds-second-country-to-legalize-bitcoin\">approved bitcoin as a means of payment<\/a> on a par with the local franc. The law was passed by parliament and signed into law by President Faustin-Archange Touad\u00e9ra.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, in September 2021, Bitcoin <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.io\/salvador-legalizoval-bitkoin-pravitelstvo-priobrelo-400-btc\/\">was legalized in El Salvador<\/a>.
