{"id":60467,"date":"2022-04-21T21:10:03","date_gmt":"2022-04-21T18:10:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=60467"},"modified":"2025-09-05T03:26:28","modified_gmt":"2025-09-05T00:26:28","slug":"nbu-bans-crypto-purchases-from-hryvnia-accounts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/nbu-bans-crypto-purchases-from-hryvnia-accounts\/","title":{"rendered":"NBU bans crypto purchases from hryvnia accounts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The National Bank of Ukraine has introduced additional <a href=\"https:\/\/bank.gov.ua\/ua\/news\/all\/natsionalniy-bank-zaprovadjuye-dodatkovi-zahodi-dlya-zapobigannya-neproduktivnomu-vidtoku-kapitalu\">restrictions<\/a> on cross-border transactions by individuals, which also affect cryptocurrency transfers.<\/p>\n<p>Under the NBU order, individuals are temporarily prohibited from conducting quasi-cash operations from hryvnia-denominated bank accounts. Cross-border P2P transfers in hryvnia are capped at 100,000 hryvnias per month.<\/p>\n<p>A combined limit, equivalent to 100,000 hryvnias per month, applies to using one\u2019s own foreign currency for quasi-cash operations and international P2P transfers.<\/p>\n<p>Quasi-cash operations include the purchase of cryptocurrencies, funding of brokerage or forex accounts, topping up electronic wallets, buying gift certificates, transfers to bookmakers, payment of traveler&#8217;s checks, and others.<\/p>\n<p>Thus, the regulator seeks to prevent capital flight from the country in wartime conditions.<\/p>\n<p>The restrictions do not apply to using payment cards abroad or in Ukraine to pay for goods and services.<\/p>\n<p>As reported, on March 16, PrivatBank temporarily prohibited its clients from depositing hryvnias on cryptocurrency exchanges. Representatives from Binance, in ForkLog&#8217;s commentary, confirmed that users are experiencing problems with such transactions.
